I have both and I have to tell you........make it into a Mini E-Revo if anything. The Mini Slash is a real bear to learn to drive; it is by far the most difficult to drive RC car I have ever had. Darn thing wants to get airborn at speed.
Thanks for the heads up, I don't think that'll be a problem cause it's gonna stay in trainer mode for my four year old. Right now he's driving a full sized slash and he kicks tail at it but I feel like he still doesn't have the proper judgement to operate something with so much weight and speed. But if it's still a problem I'll figure out a way to rig a fin to it.
Trust me, the full sized Slash is ten times EASIER to drive. Have him stick with that. Even at half throttle, the Mini Slash is going to be a traction roll machine. Running it requires a LOT of finesse on the throttle and brake. The Mini Slash is NOT a good beginner car at all. The combination of speed, short course truck body, small tires and ride height make it VERY prone to traction rolling with just the smallest of steering wheel inputs at moderate speed. I recently let an 8 year old try my Mini Slash and he got so frustrated that he quit after about 10 minutes of trying to drive it. He actually gave me the transmitter back and went back to riding his Razor scooter.
That makes sense, I've already started the transition from boss to slash so I'll just keep it as mine and let him stick with the larger model. I'm kind of excited to see the difference from boss to mini slash and from slash to slash. And if worse comes to worse I'll switch it over to the merv. We'll see. Thanks for the the info.
Actually, I have four of the Traxxas 1/16th models; I have the Mini Slash, MERV, Boss 302 and Rally. I bought the brushed 1/16th Fiesta for my brother. Of all these, the Fiesta is the easiest to drive with the MERV second. The Boss and Rally are about the same and like I said before, the Slash is a bear to drive. Anyway, I hope it works out for you and your son.
Thanks. I think the next one I'll get is the merv but for now I'll try to wrestle the slash into submission, If I can't keep it on the ground I'll probably try to modify the front bumper with excess laxan or something to restrict airflow/lift idk I'll beat it down somehow.
