Not many ways to mount a cooling fan on the 272r transmission as they changed the design enough so that standard 272 fan mounts won't work.
I came up with this way, not very elegant but functional.
Drilled a 7/64" hole in the location shown in the pic and tapped it for #3 metric threads.
Used a 20mm #3 metric screw to mount it. One mounting point is all that's needed, as the fan rests against the side if the transmission case preventing it from twisting.
There's enough room to use a 40mm fan, and a clear airflow path to the motor.
