I really starting to catch the nitro bug and have been looking at craigslist for some deals and i have ran across a T-Maxx 3.3 (4909 which i already have) and a Savage 25 with an extra 4.6 engine. Both are are within the same price range.

The T-Maxx comes with an extra set of wheels and other parts (@$175) while the Savage only comes witht the radio and extra engine (@$160).

Is the savage 25 comparible to the T-Maxx? all the research i have come up with is on the Savage X 4.6 which alot of people seem to like.

So whats the main diffrence between the Savage 25 and the Savage X 4.6? Is it the same diffrence between the T-Maxx and the Revo?

+1 for the savage. I think the differences between the savage 25 and the savage x are the bulks, diffs, axles, trans, a-rms and a few other things. Most of the parts are compatible with the newer versions and all of the parts can be upgraded.

So the X is just a beefed up version of the 25. I was leaning toward the T-Maxx just because i already have one and i could swap parts, But out of all the things i have read today looks like the Savage is the way to go.

Are there diffrent model numbers of the 25 so that i would know how old it is?

You wont be disappointed with any of the savage line up. You will quickly realize they are much more durable than the tmaxx. If you plan on dropping in a bigger engine, you will want to upgrade the diffs first. The stock diffs on the 25 have 2 spider gears, from what I have heard, they dont hold up to anything more than the stock engine. Either upgrade to the 4 spider gear diff or the HPI BP diffs, when shimmed properly, you shouldn't have any issues.

I still have and run a Savage 25. Other than the lower center of gravity chassis on the X,there is really much difference in them. The diffs were upgraded to 4 spider gears on the later 25's because the 2 gear doesn't even hold up to the 25 engine for very long. So run what it has until you break it then upgrade and go straight to the bullet proofs.

Other differences are: On the x the trans housing and battery box are changed for easier access. The bulks are different just in that the cross pin is hex instead of round and the roll bar incorporates some engine protection. Also slightly better tires and stronger 17mm hexes. Oh,and the X has the 4.6.

That's all I have noticed, minuscule stuff really. The 25 platform is still better than any T-Maxx IMO.

+1 Savage, hands down.

If it was between a 3.3 revo and savage 2.5... then maybe different story as in my book, they are very similar in toughness. That said, it's more costly to put a torquey engine in the revo than it is the savage, so if grass is where you drive, I'd go savage in that case.

I'll never own another t-maxx.

Of the two, I'd go with the Savage. It's much stronger than the T-Maxx out of the box.

go for the maxx if you already have one that would be a easy choise if it were me
i guess if you want a tank........get a savage:D

go for the maxx if you already have one

I was thinking the same thing, I wouldn't have to stock parts for 2 different trucks. I wouldn't mind testing the waters a little bit either, seeing how i have only drove the T-Maxx. I would like to try other trucks out, this is a pretty tough choice. I guess it will all come down to which truck is in the best shape. I don't want to buy shredded truck and have to put in the same amount i paid for it just to make it reliable.

As someone will say later on, just buy both if you can afford them. The seller might give you a better deal if you take both of them. If you can't afford them both then I would go with the savage. I just recently bought my daughter a savage 25 that I have to go through but I'm glad I bought her a savage over the other brands because of the interchangeability. I have a fleet of 10 cars where I only use 9 of them and I don't have alot of parts in stock.

the guy couldnt get the savage to start so i passed on the deal. Dont think i am ready to take on a full project specialy at that price. and the guy with the T-Maxx got his full asking price. So no deals worked out today, may just invest in upgrading my T-Maxx.
