Totally Wrecked My BRAND NEW FT TC3 - Lots of Pics

I finally finished putting together my Factory Team TC3 Kit. Here's what I put into it:

1) $380 - Factory Team Kit TC3
2) $200 - KO Digital Servos for Throttle / Steering
3) $100 - Novak Synthesized Receiver
4) $230 - Novarossi Top S1 .12 Engine
5) $30 - MDP 1400mah Nimh Receiver Flat Pack
6) Free - Black Pre-painted Body from a Previous TC3 RTR that I sold to buy this kit
7) Free - Primer Bulb taken off my Monster GT Truck

This is what it looks like after about 10 hours of work.

So Here What it Looks Like 1 Minute After The Break-In Process

So check this out - I idled the first tank of gas, and heat cycled the 2nd, 3rd, and etc. Btw, this TOP engine was a major pain in the friggin butt to get started on my starterbox. I had to heat-up/blow-dry the engine because the engine was so darn TIGHT. I could not believe it. It was worse than my RB WS7II engine on my MBX5 Prospec. Anyhow, after the break-in process, I'm totally excited and ready to rip on this sucker. So being foolish and impatient, I decided to not wait 2 minutes to drive near my local smooth pavement/clear wide open space for RC cars hotspot (literally 5 blocks away) and decide that I just want to TRY to just play with it on my neighborhood street. Just try...for a minute or so. I was so damn curious about how powerful and fast this engine was going to be.

So I let it down on my neighborhood street in front of my house in San Francisco, and after 1 pass - I get so excited! I've only given it 1/3 throttle and it's shifts into 2nd speed with the quickness like no other. I drive it slowly to the end of one side of my block and I slowly turn it around, preparing to unleash this beast of a motor and see how fast it will go. I give it full throttle this time and I could've sworn it had to have been going it's way to almost 60mph. I pull up on the brakes to slow it down, and low and behold...the damn thing is just too fast. The car fishtails and BAM!!!! hits the bottom of a tire on a parked SUV and I can hear the engine of the car just stop in an instant upon the impact. As I quickly run over to inspect the TC3, I'm thinking that I might have just leaked all the fuel out of the car, causing the engine to stop running so fast. A neighbor who's been watching me, is loving the action and asks me if the car's alright and if I had happened to break anything. I'm embarassed so I just shrug my shoulders and run back to my house to inspect the damage when I get back inside in the privacy of my own office.

And low and behold - Here are the pics

I ended up literally ripping the engine in half (I know the pictures are crappy but it was a tough angle), the chassis was midly bent underneath the engine side, and I shattered my fuel tank. Other than that, the car is fine. :) It's so weird but everything else on the car is fine, but this was an extremely painful and costly mistake/lesson on my part. Doh!

Daaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmm! Thats the first time I have seen or heard of that happening. It was a sweet ride hopefully you get it going soon.

thats crazy.. just a freak thing i guess.. you would think the motor mount would give first.. were you running with the body on ??

DAMN, that damage had to been hard on your heart. Well, you do have the Factory Team kit and that means you have a front oneway so yup, you'll fishtail every time you hit the brake. Turn down the brake to the point you don't fishtail anymore becuase you only have rear brakes with a oneway.

Hahaha. Thanks for the comments and tips everyone. I think I'm going to keep all of my radio equipment and dump it on ebay with some other RC parts that I've been saving up. :)

Do you have a list of parts that are broken? Since my ntc3 isn't exactly selling as I hoped, I could probably hook you up with some stuff for cheap. It won't be anything special, but it'll get the car up and running again.

Stuff I have that I would assume you need:
Engine (12 cv-r side exhaust needs to get sleeve pinched)
Side exhaust system
Chassis (scratched up, but it's straight, and works)
Tank (older one, but again it works)

Not sure how much plastic parts are broken, but I probably have parts for them as long as it's not the V.2 rear end.

Anyhoo, shoot me a PM if you plan on keeping the car.
