Bought a K3 off of Ebay about 2 months ago, should i keep or sell. I'm disappointed in Kyosho for what they just pulled. Great time of year to do it with the season just getting underway.

comes down to finance and if u can afford to replace it with something better, ie mugen or x-ray

Got the ok from the wife. I just dumped a bunch of money into this baby, new parts, spare clutch, ...., the list goes on. Our season starts tomorrow, just sucks.

Hmmm I actuall like the K 2 and 3. Like Mikeburgin said can you afford it? You can always post it back on EBay and sell it and try to do it that way.

Also you may be able to qualifiy to post it here soon .

I'm just more worried about parts right now. I didnt break anything on my 9.5 last year. I just dont want to loose my shirt if i sell it.

bigred just remember that alot of companies go through restructure, just most are a bit more organised when they do, doesn't mean that it will remain as a shocking service, may be worth sticking it out, the k2-k3 cars are nice cars and still very capable of a A main win, problem is that you will not sell your car for more than what you originaly brought it for, a second hand car is still a second hand car, so all the parts and money u have sunk into it will be a waste

OK the K3 is discontinued, everything has a shelf life, there will be parts for it for years, I still don't see the problem.

Kyosho are no longer dealing with great planes in the us, and have setup there kyosho usa, but have not had a computer system setup to do orders which has meant a short fall of parts for the us recently, but all will be resolved if it isnt already

I know everything has a shelf life, I know the car is discontinued. I'm worried about getting parts for it. Yes there is Ebay, but waiting 1-2 weeks for a part when you need it yesturday blows bigtime. The k3's not 20 yrs old, only a couple.

Is there a list somewhere for parts from the trip7 that fit the k3?

WELL, you could just keep a spare everything and then replace that part if you break something

just keep it, parts will be available eventually. buy the parts before you break them, its always good to have spares anyway. also, you can pretty much upgrade a K car to 777 status anyway, so why worry about discontinuation. the K3 was a new car begining of last year iirc, so kyosho will support it for many years to come.

Talked to the Kyosho rep at RCX yesterday. He said that they will sell parts directly from their site in Mission Viejo, BUT at retail prices. They don't have their computer system up and running yet. He also said that they will carry parts for each particular model for FIVE years after production ends. I think that you will probably be able to buy parts cheaper from some of the other models websites in a while ( after the confusion settles down to a normal routine).

Kyosho really didn't think things through with their transistion. You figured they wouldn't have left GP until they had their stuff up and running.

All I can figure is that there was something in their contract with GP about not setting up for sales until a certain date or something.
It is hard to believe (or understand how) such a large company could fall so flat when it already has such a large market in the country.

Well I ran the k3 this last weekend. Kind of hard to tell how it drove since i havent driven a gas car since last October (we get snow in Minnesota, lol). Qualified 7th out of 30 1/8th scales. Had to bump-up from the B-main to the A. Finished 5th in the A-main. I like the car but am still worried about the support issue. The wife gave me the ok to put it back on Ebay and get something different. A lot of guys run the Mugen, but am still partial to the Kyosho.

even if this was so, you would think they would have had a computer setup ready to just plug in and it would be away, stock already in a warehouse, so the first day or even week of there take over they would be ready to supply a quality service, i just think that what has happened is slack, even if they had a contract like that dont u think a month or 2 is a little over the top to setup, since everything is loaded of a disk that kyosho supply, and stock takes a week if that to arrive, and a day or to to set it up to a findable state, i think its apawling that a company as big as kyosho is in this much turmoil, in a country like the us, wouldnt even exspect this from New Zealand
