I bought a 2.5 tmaxx about 13-14 months ago. It was a good deal but, it was rough. I went through it with some work and got it running. But, I hate doing that on nitro’s if things have been abused. So, I knew I was going to go through the whole thing. Because I like running them more then trying to get them to run.

I decided I was going to build this back with 3.3 parts. So, I’ve been saving money and buying parts until I got what I needed to do it at one time.

I forgot to take pics when I started but, you’ll get the idea

First thing I did was take the back clip off and install rpm arms. I checked the shocks and changed the oil in them all. I also installed new drive axles. The diff was in good shape so I just changed fluid and reinstalled.

I moved on and took out the transmission. It’s getting a 3.3 tranny. But, that’s going to be one of the last parts I bolt on it. I moved up to the front clip and removed it and this is where I run into parts not interchanging too well.

When I first got the truck I put some 2.5 parts back on it that I had acquired and bought. And, what I found out is the beefed up axles that come on the 3.3 won’t fit into the 2.5 steering knuckles very well. No problem. I’ve got a couple 3.3 knuckles.

Uh oh. After installing them, the turnbuckles on the 2.5 made for that knuckle is way too short. So, I just ordered the correct turnbuckle for that knuckle. Arrggghhh. I hate it when you miss something prepping for a remodel.
