If you could get a tmax or hpi savage .21 or .25 - what would you choose? I've been thinking about getting rid of my rs4 2 and saving up for a tmax or savage.

Don't know what that link said cause when I clicked on it, it said no matches, but just my 2 cents real quick. Both trucks are the top of the Monster class. Savages are very powerful, and extreamly durable, but the same can be said about the T-Maxx. Personal Opinion, I got to go with the Maxx, just because of the wear and tear. The Maxx doesn't really go through alot. Like I just got my Savage not the long ago, and I noticed the outdrives wear fast, and I heard the axles, and diffs. are a little bit weak for the torque of the .25. The Maxx barely wears, at least mine didn't. I've been upgrading mine slowly but surely, and through every hop up, nothing broke because of the new part, or anything. The truck is extreamly forgiving. The only part I can't stand about the Maxx is the engines. Traxxas kinda falls off there compared to like HPI. The .25 runs awesome, and I haven't had to tune it at all, and the truck is fast, and runs cool, so perfect combo there. The 2.5 is a pain in the "nads." I never had one, but my friend got a Sportmaxx, and the damn thing never runs right no matter what we do. The .15 that the orignals came with sucked even worse. Had no power for the truck, and never ran right, at least this is on my own experiance. The 2.5 is the most popular, fastest, more argued over small block engine out there. Some people love it to death. Others hate it. It all totally depends. The .25 is an awesome engine, and I haven't heard TOO many complaints about it. Theres always gonna be a few who don't know how to tune that blame the engine. Now if your reading this to deside which one to buy, you have to look at parts availibility, hop-up opition, which they both are about equal, and what you really want out of the truck. If you want a long lasting truck to just drive anyday or everyday. I would have to say T-Maxx on that one. Your looking for a sickning fast truck, that is very well made, and can be easily made into a racer. I would have to go with Savage. The Maxx would fall into the same make an easy racer cadigory, except for that engine. If you master the 2.5, then congrats., you really accomplished something there. The Savage would fall into an everyday runner too except after a while, the truck will begin to wear fast, and once it starts wearing, its only going to get worse, and worse fast too. I got both, so I can talk out of experiance on both. My Savage is basically stock, and performs awesome out on the track. My Maxx isn't far behind, but there again, I got about $2,000 wrapped up in it. The Savage will most likily need parts in the near future, cause I can see those outdrives giving up on me one day. My Maxx hasn't had to be fixed in about a year and a half, and that was a half of year bashing, and a full season of racing. Nothing broke, and nothing wore bad at all. So consider the opitions, and good luck with which ever one you get. Either one, like I said is top of the Monster class. You will not find a better truck. Not the LST, MGT, or Revo. Revo has got too much crap on it, and that opiti-drive is a waste (own opinion). The MGT runs in way too many problems while stock, and the LST is a giant hole in your wallet, for nothing more special than the others. So hope I helped you out, and good luck to you again. :devil: :sniper: :flamer: :flaming:

yeah me too Let me see what I can do to fix that

I love my Maxx I wouldn't want any thing else.Just remember T-Maxx 1/10 and Savage 1/8. big guy vs. small guy

Yes I do not know why these are still in the same class stock. If you do a conversion kit for the Maxx it would be fair.

HMM TRX2.5 = .15 cc mill

S25 = .25 cc mill

Go figure

Both are great trucks. I own a Savage and I love the chassis setup being in a vertical position rather than the horizontal position. It makes the maintanece very easy. Plus the damn thing jumps so well. That's just my :2cents:

I will save you the trouble. Get a Savage. Its durability speaks for itself.

If you are leaning towards a T-Maxx, you should consider the Revo instead.

Good advice Rob.

It all depends on what you want to do. Fast, agile, race capable out of the box, REVO. Tough, powerful, cheap to maintain, SAVAGE.

Forget the maxx, it's outdated. The revo is basically a maxx that has been severly upgraded. The savage is also outdated, but they are coming out with ones with little things like the spider diff's upgraded and whatnot.

tmaxx is good enough

I have both, i recently bought a savage due to an excellent deal that i cannot resist. I originally got a TMAXX 2.5. I think the $$ different will assist u to make the final decision. You can spend the different to upgrad the TMAXX and make it stronger. I put aluminium b-head and skid plate on the maxx and i had front end crash a few times to a lamp post. Nothing broke in full throttle. HPI roto start, u need to have good skill to start it as it will ruin the 1 way bearingnad ruin the whole day of fun. Tmaxx has a circiut protector to protect it. If u are a beginer, get the TMAXX, extremely easy to work on and easy start (fool proof).....I always look at the maintenance first...like choosing a G35 than a 325i.......

From what I see, the Revo and the T-maxx have no similarities whatso ever. The engine and the yokes are different from the tmaxx. The yokes are a bit larger and the engine has little tweaks to it.

It's called, evolution. The Traxxas Engineers even stated that the Revo is what they wanted to do when they slapped band aids on the original Maxx to create the Maxx 2.5.

I think you see my point ;) In order to remove all the weak links on a maxx, you must start over... (not trying to start a flame war, just my opinion)

I think they did good at it too. Definately a great improvment.
