Thank you! Nice stadium truck! That's what the talk is. A new 1/10 buggy and stadium truck around summer time.
It was a nice truck but i traded away almost 4 years ago wished i hadn't sometimes. I hope to see a new 22 or 22T sometime this year since i'm interested in returning to TLR since my 22T 4.0. Although i have my Associated B74.1 which has served me well but i kind want to build another TLR might also look into a 4WD 22X4 if TLR comes out with a new version someday. Here's my current race buggy again it's a B74.1 stock 13.5T carpet setup gets around the track well also i recently switched from a Futaba 4PM to a Spektrum DX6C so far going good but eventually i want to get the new iXSR. For @GeejayTLR do you have any experience with the iXSR? since i know you run Spektrum gear

Hey there! I own a 22 5.0 myself. Bought it in new condition but as assembled roller. I disassembled the front end for the first time yesterday, because there’s quite a lot of play in the front arms where they’re connected to the pivot block. I thought it had come from some minor bumps on the racetrack, but then - having taken it apart - I couldn’t help but notice that the tolerances are way too loose. In fact, they aren’t even worthy of being called tolerances. The pins sit loose in the pivot block and they sit even looser in the arms. What the heck is going on there at TLR? Do you guys have the same situation in your 22 5.0 builds?

I’m going to measure 📐 everything and design a new pivot block assembly, so that everything fits nice and tightly. I work in engineering/industrial design and we’re probably going to put out some spare/tuning parts.

Peace out ✌🏽

Horizon ruined TLR to pieces so that's why there is poor build quality and support from the factory

Bought mine used and it was dialed from my race buddy. Did a full rebuild on it the other month and it was even more dialed.

For real? But that‘s a proper design flaw then. The build quality in respect to parts manufacturing is very nice in my opinion. But that’s really - for me - unexplainable. That’s also why I’m going to put some tuning parts to construction and in the long run on the market. I have just rebuilt this old B4 Stealth from 2003 or so, and the tolerances in that car (in the front end) are much better. The rear end on the TLR is fine.

I mean,.I personally never had anything wrong with my 5.0 unless it was just wear and tear parts like spur gear or plastic parts on ball studs ect. Maybe the part/car you got was just poorly built/manufactured. Horizon really doesn't care about their users anymore imo. Especially since they let go of their whole pro driver team because they don't have the money/funds to support it.
I got replacement front arm and hinge pins in my list bc I broke a arm the other week so once I get it I'll see if it's normal or if it has a odd amount of play.

Going back and re reading your post since it was a roller from the factory could just be horizon. Because they like to put things together poorly. Because they can't pay their workers much in terms of quality so... Yea. Horizon is just a full slip n slide now in recent years. Don't get me started on Proline QC issues lol.

Thanks for the insight! 👍🏼👍🏼

PS: but on the other hand - I have two mini Bs as well and they are totally fine and alright! 🤷🏻‍♂️

and PS2: it would be super cool, if you would inform me about the tolerances in the replacement parts you’re getting as soon as you have them. Pls tag me or DM or just reply here… I’ll get a notification! 🙋🏻‍♂️

Oh yea for sure.
These are what I have in my cart right now.

Hinge pins across all models of the 5.0 should be the same, although those front arms are the Stiffezel, the firm/stiff ones for the AC/Carpet version, not sure if they are the same on the DC versions, I might have to go back and cross reference the manuals just in case. ;)

I also have a mini b and had no issues, and I love that thing. such a great mini track basher, even better on carpet, even though I have some Hot Racing and cheap Amazon upgrades lol.

Edit: If you do get these parts and they still have that play, might be best to grab a replacement pivot block too just to see. Or you might be able to use a caliper and measure the hole diameter to see if it matches the pivot block and pins. Just a thought. Could also try to use shims on the hinge pins but not sure how that would work out to be fair.
