Is there a way to get the tires off the rims with a 100% chance off not hurting them and being able to reuse them? I wanna dye my wheels but tires are still good.

Acetone removal is supposed to work everytime although unless you have closed cell foams you will have to buy new foams (or at least you should) but the tires and rims should be fine. I havent used this method myself mainly due to the cost. a container of acetone in my area about the size of the one in the video is about $25. I didnt want to dye my rims that badly.

Kinda dumb, but what is a closed cell foam? These are stock tmaxx wheels and tires. Noticed in the video it says cheap rtr stock tires cannot be reused with this method.

Hmmmmmm Its been awhile since I watched that video I was thinking it was safe for the tires and the rims. maybe not.

Closed cell foams are better than your stock foams and this link shows a bunch of examples of what they can look like although theyarent always blue

Open cell foams are cheaper foams and generally the foams the come with stock RTR tires and even alot of after aftermarket tires like these.

Sorry couldnt find a solid page of open cell foams but that should give you the idea.

I've boiled and baked sets to get the tires off before, I prefer baking. Either way, the key is to take your time and make sure they are ready to come off. The wheels will be softer as well so you don't want to put too much pressure on them as they may bend. You will have to force them off slightly but you want to make sure you don't rip the tire or bend the wheel. Like I said, I prefer baking because I didn't have to wait for the foams to dry and I didn't have to worry about the hot water inside the tire like I did with boiling.

i just watched how to remove chrome vid, can't believe the easy off oven cleaner does not eat the plastic. Anyone done that?

the traxxas foam is still good after you do the acetone method, you just have to let them dry out good and they will shrink back down to size.
