Throttle servo keeps going.

My friend has a thunder tiger tomahawk st and his throttle servo broke after a week of having it so we put a new one in and now one week later it has gone again. Any ideas what could be wrong with it? Because I don't think that is normal for it to break twice in two weeks. Any comments would be great. Thanks.

You need to upgrade the servos instead of sticking with stock ones. Most all RTR rc's come with the cheapest servos the company can get away with using. You need to go with recommended torque ratings on both throttle/brake and steering servos. Stick with higher end brands like Savox, Hitech, JR racing, Futaba and also stay with the ones that are metal or titanium geared. For a 1/8 scale buggy you need at least a 100oz inch torque rating at 6v. On steering i would recommend at least a 200oz inch torque at 6v. A Savox sc0254mg for throttle/brake is less than $40 on ebay. A Savox sc0251mg for steering is around $40 or less as well on ebay.

Could also be that the remote is setup to allow the servo to try and go beyond the mechanical limits of the linkage. This will burn up servo boards/motors pretty quick if it doesn't fry the gears first.

I tend to agree with Olds97. With the air cleaner off, look inside the carb as you work the throttle. (Engine OFF) If it goes to full open and looks like it's still straining to go farther, that's your problem.
You need to adjust the linkage to the point that it goes full throttle and does not go farther when you are on full trigger.

And also I got schmacher menace 21. And need a throttle servo for it. Any idea what one just want a cheap one because it a little project I'm doing building it up. Any code or help would be great. Cheers

I use Hi-tech's HS-311 for all of my throttle servos. They are cheap only about $8.

Always go with a good servo. I prefer the HiTec HS-645MG or HS-5645NG which is the digital version of the 645, You'll want something with decent torque and speed to operate the throttle and brake.

The cheapest/weakest I'd go would be a traxxas waterproof digital 2075. Can usually be nabbed on ebay for under $20.

As stated before, I'd go with a quality servo. Especially for the throttle/brake, that's the only one that can really control your rc. If it fails and goes full throttle, good luck stopping it. If a steering one fails though, just hit the brakes.

I would say swap out the SERVOS to a more dependable one such as Traxxas digital servo's I believe they are the #2075 water proof one's... Or SAVOX servos are very good too but a little on the pricey side & the Traxxas Servos might be the way to go if money is an issue & a bit lighter on the wallet for Traxxas Servos...

FYI I use SAVOX Servos I currently have SAVOX throttle & steering servos on my T-MAXX.... I want to get my Slayer Pro 4x4 switched over to SAVOX but being on a budget for now I'll have to stick with the TRAXXAS Servos witch are still a good SERVO...
