I need to make up a couple of custom throttle and brake linkages. What is the proper wire to use, where to get it and same questions for a wire bender. I prefer some sort of a machine or tool that is designed to make these bends for R/C's.

Towers site is down so i can't give you the link ofr the wire. I used to pairs of pliers to do mine and it worked great!

you should be able to pick up a pack of double end threaded 4-40 rod at most hobby shops. Look in the airplane section, probably with the Dubro parts. Honestly I make all my bends with a pair of pliers, never had a problem.

you can also get them in a fully threaded version. If you need your custom likage shorter than what's in the pack pick up a rod end adapter (by Dubro as well) It's a piece of brass that is threaded on one end and hollow on the other, you simply slide the hollow end over the end of your 4-40 rod and solder. Works nicely, I have two custom linkages on my T-Maxx made in this fashon.

The Wire diameter is 0.072 inch. You can also find wire that is threaded on one end with 2-56 thread. 4-40 thread size rod will be way too big and heavy. You can get Z-bend pliers at your local hobby shop along with the wire. As Lesson said, it's usually in the airplane section. I started making my own linkage and used pliers to make the bends to begin with. After getting the Z-bend pliers and seeing how simple it made the job, I'm glad I spent the money on them. I ended up re-making all of my linkages with the Z-bend pliers and custom bends. Now none of my linkages have any binding or side loading on the servo horns.

The pliers I have a made by Hanger 9 #HAN119 and cost around $13. Tower is still down but here is a link to Hobby Town http://h1069914.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=HAN119
No link for the push rod but I'm sure you can find it at your LHS.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, and to Pinblaster, too. I'll hit up Hobbypeople tomorrow as they stock a lot of Dubro stuff.
