OK, so tonight I got my truck started and when i got it outside it would still run. when I hit the throttle a little bit, the truck barely responded if at all. after about 30 seconds the truck went into max rev and after it skinned my wrist with the tire i was able to pull the fuel line. What can I do or look at to fix this? Its a T-15 engine on an hpi mt2 18ss running on 20% nitro.

usually if it opens up by it self that means there was an interference with the radio frequency. for instance if there is similar frequency when your battery in your radio is low it will be interupted and mess with your receiver and things will go crazy. are you running 2.4 GHZ or 27 mhz ? usually if its 2.4 GHZ your not typically gonna have an interference.

If its not those issues i stated above I'm not sure what else it could be, i would replace the batteries in the radio and car and before you start it turn them both on and with it off the ground test your steering and throttle and brake and see if the problem occurs again.

make sure on your transmitter none of the reversing buttons have been flipped because I had an rc go nuts like that after I accidently hit the reversing switch... just an idea

check your batteries in both the truck and transmitter! before i installed my fail safe, mine the did the same thing, went down a hill and took off at full throttle and was heading straight for the LAKE! it hit small bush or it would have become a submarine !!!!!!! new batteries solved the problem, and got my fail safe the next day !

* fail safe is one of the best investments aswell !

I did figure out the problem and replaced the battery but that was not it. After staring at it I realized that the horn for the carb fell off and got stuck in a position that made the engine go wide open. All of this was because of a missing washer that holds that horn on top of the other one. Anyways what is a fail safe, is it part of the controller?

depending on what type of transmitter/receiver set up your running as some already have them, a fail safe will prevent your truck from taking off. it's a plug in aftermarket set up. takes maybe 5 mins to install. it reads the volts of your battery..., and when it loses a signal from the receiver it will bring your throttle servo back to center, preventing your tuck from taking off. i have a venom fail safe with a temp gauge combo. but the temp gauge part is not very accurate. fail safe works fine. i would just go with fail safe model.
