So I bought a rtr slash ultimate lot off a forum. Great deal that seems to need a great deal of work! Ha. Pic attached of the bought lot.

Along with it, a protek charger, a 2s lipo, Track bag, 3 painted lids, extra chassis, tool kit, 2 sets wheels, 3 sets of tires and some other odds n ends parts.
Took it to the track put the 2s in and it was super fast! But something was making a Heck of a noise. So i put her up till I got home to the bench. Pulled it apart to find half the track the guy was running on before me inside the gear case.

Also the small pin holding the composite drive shaft was what made the noise! Seemed it was about a 2mm out on one side, cutting into the shaft cover.

Thankfully not the chassis.
Got to get a bearing kit or 2 from
Fast Eddie. The removed caked bearings from the axel carriers feel like they just came off the beach. Hate to know how old he took care of his real car.
Need to order a few bags of screws from fleabay, unless one of y'all knows of a better source.
Also need to get grease for the front and rear transfers???? Rear transfer seems to have stainless coming out, yet front is plastic...

Is this normal?

Oh the list will continue!

Dude, thats strange. I'm not familiar with that type of axle on the front diff. Do you know what brand it is? I have M.I.P. extra heavy duty axles on my Slash and theyre literally unbreakable. Have you tried garage door lube on any of the moving parts? I'm trying different options to prolong the life of mine because the ceramic bearings are so expensive and the stock ones dont last very long at all.

Yup. I believe that's it. I have never seen a slash with that much dirt and rust in it though. It's a miracle it runs well.

You should see the one I am always working on at my LHS, some lets just say over privileged kid was given a Slash Ultimate and told his dad "I don't want this POS, I'm gonna wreck it when I get home" this was as they were walking out the door. It always comes back in for bearings to be replaced, one time he told me that "it makes a funny noise and it only goes after I kick it", had to replace the slipper, spur, pinion, rear diff, and just about all bearings. Some people's kids!! This is the same kid who, while I was working on his truck, saw my rigs and extra engines and kept bugging me to let him drive my truck, after I told him no (repeatedly) he asked if he could have my extra engine that was in my tool box. His dad finally told him to stop after he grabbed one of my engines and pulled the pull start while asking how much an engine was, I told him around $150 and that he was about to buy the one in his hands being as he was turning it over without the lubrication provided by the fuel.
