This a good Iphone?

Do Not buy that phone.

The new Iphone 3G debuted this morning... well.. Friday morning. They are $200 and should be considerably faster than the original Iphone. Plus, the new 3G is either 8GB or 16GB with the 8GB model being $200. That's twice as much memory for $100 CHEAPER than what he wants for his original model. This is a bad situation for all those original Iphone folks who want the newer models and spent $500 on the original. It's like buying a new car and trying to sell it 6 months later.

I've been a Verizon customer for the last 6 or 7 years and I'm going to the nearest Sprint store tomorrow to order 2 Samsung Instincts, for the wife and myself. My Verizon contract has been up for like a year and I've been waiting for either a 2nd gen Iphone with the features I want or a competitor that is within the ballpark and the new Samsung is (IMO) within the ballpark considering what I want out of it.

Yeah, the new ones are already out. The only problem is that you have to unlock it, but there are programs out there that will do that for you.

That's cool. Cell phone biz is like that. Everybody's experience is different. One of the guys at work has had Sprint for that long and loves it.. it's a toss up really. I havn't had any issues with Verizon whatsoever, they just don't have the type of phone I've been waiting for for the price I want to pay.

I'm in Canada but the think is, ROGERS is charging 100 DOLLARS A MONTH and the plan is for 3 years. RIPPP OFFFFF. 150 DAY TIME MINUTES AND THats pretty much it.
So end up paying 3665 in the end. (Nop i dont think so)!!!
But old iphone users get a free update to 3g but the only thing they dont get is the gps. But either way u gotta pay for it and i already have one anyway

I'm assuming ROGERS is a provider up there? Pretty much all of your high end multimedia (non-smart) phones will run you around $100/mo. USD. At least here that about right. Sprint makes you get an unlimited plan which is a minimum of $100/mo. I just got two Instincts with Sprint and it'll run us $130/mo. for both and we share 1500 min. with unlimited data..which includes Nascar Sprint Cup Mobile.

Anyways, I'm sidetracks. yeah, 150 min/mo. is crap for that kind of cash. Boo!

Here in Denmark the Iphone is locked to one provider. You pay 400$ for the phone up front, and are tied to them for 6 months at 80$ a month. Oh and there's a 300mb download limit too. Pretty dumb for such a internet capable phone IMO.

I may end up getting on sooner or later, I just sold my PC in favour of a used 17" Powerbook G4. This is a sweet machine. :D

Yeah, they are locked here too but hackers have figured out how to unlock them. Too much trouble if you ask me. I'm really happy with my Instinct after the first day... Especially the web, it's faster than I expected.. even at home where I have significantly less signal than if I'm out and about. I need to go in to work for a few hours later so I'll see what the signal is like there.

If anyone should think of joining with Sprint as your wireless provider, shoot me a PM, I can get you on the SERO program. It provides you with a discount on your plan. /shameless plug. :D

Lessen, glad to hear the good news about the Instinct, they have been selling like crazy.

I heard that the new iPhone wasn't completely functional after leaving the AT&T store, you had to synch it with iTunes before it would be 100% working. The new iPhone may be a 3G phone, but AT&T's 3G network is considerably smaller than the other two companies.

You know, I really wanted the Iphone to be everything I wanted but the lack of MMS and the lowball price of the Instinct pretty much turned mne away. I waited a year because I thought (like everybody else) that the 2nd Gen Iphone would certainly have MMS. The Iphone is better at just about everything it does but where it lacks, it lacks big, at least for me. I don't really need a 16GB of memory anyways. I have a 30GB Zune which I've been pretty happy with. At the moment I'm pleased with my multimedia toys.
