hey guys, i love my truck, but i can keep spending all this money on it too keep it going. just yesturday my flippin battery shorted out while i was running full speed, it hit a brick linning thing and PLOW the whole front end was in pieces. bulkheads were snapped completly off from chassis and skid, 2 front rims cracked right in half.

so i am thinkin about either fixing it up nice again and selling it(either sell as a whole or part out) or fix it up and keep it.

also another factor is that i am looking to get a car soon. so the money would go towards that also

bryan

Never act out of frustration. Maybe you should just take your time and fix it. By the time you get it fixed, you may have changed your mind. If you decide to sell it, you may get bitten by the nitro bug again and need to start all over.

Just my :2cents:

I remember my first car. It was a 1970 Torino GT. Got it for $50 and fixed it up for a little over $400. I did all the body repair with my dad's instruction. Painted it in the garage and worked on the engine (HO 302 2V) till the day I sold it for over 2K. I think I used it for a year. Nothing broke down, I just fell through the floor since the floor was all rotted out. OK, back to the topic ...

Bryan, think this through very carefully. You really love this hobby. It'll be a way to vent some steam. Yes, I know it gets expensive. If I were you, I would fix up the max then put it away for storage. Don't make a decission so quickly. It's gonna cost you more to maintain and insure your car than it will for running your max in the long run. You actually might need the Max to blow off some steam.

Remember, to insure a new male driver under the age of 25 is pretty expensive. Even with just liability. I don't know how much it is where you are but here in NYC an under 25 male with new driving experience will run an average of $1600/6 months. It's called assigned risk and it sux big time :2cents:

It's simple. Pick up all the pieces. Gather them neatly in one spot. Get all your bodies. Parts. Tools. Fuel. Supplies. Find a spot for them that is not in the way. Take and old sheet. Throw it over all of it. Turn and walk away.

In a week, you'll be back under that sheet taking stock of what you need to do to get that thing running again. And before you know it, you'll be bashing all over the place.

OH, and while you're ordering your parts, get a throttle return spring. It would have been a life saver...

Or you can sell the whole mess to me!

Man, like the other guys said. You have a lot of time and $ invested in this already. Your not going to get anything close to what you put into it.

I'd take note on what needs fixed and throw the whole think in a closet somewhere. Make sure to throw some ARO in it though. In a week, month or year, you will be glad you kept it.

Candyman's got the right idea.

I sold mine 5 yeras ago because I didn't have the time, and my kids were too young (always loosing my parts). I got back into them Recently and really wish I hadn't let my RC stufff go.

The thing is, if you can't afford it right now, like Candyman said, stick it in a closet, and forget about it. You don't have to fix it tomorrow, it can wait.

Maybe you're looking at it like "I've got this thing worth money here. I could sell it, and do something else with the money".

You've already spent an immense amount of money getting into the hobby. You most likely won't get anywhere near your initial investment back. If you want to start in the hobby again, are you going to be ready to throw out the initial investment again?

Once interested in R/C it seems the bug never leaves ya. You might find more important things to do. But when things settle down and life goes back to normal, you'll be looking for something to enertain yourself again.

thats what i am thinkign guys. i bought the skid last night along with another body. i think that i am just going to fix it up, and stick it in the closet. i know for a fact that if i sell it i will want another one the day after. SO i have came to the conclusion i think i am going to stay with it for a while.

by the way how do u hook a throttle return spring up??

thankz alot guys
