hey guys, lately my truck has not been running. either the cvd's are being dumb and break the pins or my tranny gears get torn up. i have been thinkin about puttin it away for a while because i dont have all this $$ to spend on it at the moment because i am trying to get a real car. I got ARO in it already and i am pretty sure i am gonna leave it alone for a while until i get a job then i am gonna fix her up again. should i put it away? that is the question! lol:cheers:

Put her away but DON'T sell her. If anything, do what I do. Clean up the workbench, if you have one, and place her on a stand. That way, you won't completely forget about it. It will call you one day and you'll fix her when you need the nitro fix.

thats exactly what i did. i cleaned up my bench and i put it in my closet where i see it everyday.

I kind of did the same thing. I have a 21 maxx that every time I take it out, I destroy something. Usually it's not something that broke from wear and tear, it's normally from a bad wreck.

The difference is that I rarely drive it anymore because I got a 2.5 maxx and did some major surgery to it to make it cheaper to maintian. I converted it to 2 wheel drive, locked the rear diff, put a orion wasp 18 on it, OFNA buggy tank, roll bar, cvd's and savage tires. Just today I bought a new radio system since I had a nasty glitch and half the reason I'm not driving the 21 maxx is due to the fact that it has too much power. I'm just not a good enough driver to handle it. So, I bought 2 mx3 radios today and installed them. I still only put a couple tanks through the 21 maxx, but nothing was broken. I adjusted the endpoint on my throttle servo to be about 60% and I toned down the steering as well.

After a couple tanks in it, I put about 1.5 quarts through the 18 maxx... stuff broke :(. I've had a problem shock on it since I've gotten it, keeps blowing out and my rear diff finally (after 3 gallons) started chattering at me. So, I fixed those 2 things and I'll be back at it tomorrow.

It may not be entirely cheap, but it's definatly cheaper.

Hey SuperMaxx97 you are getting some good advice, and I hope you are able to get her back together some day soon and good luck on the real car. A little secret it is easier to pick up girls in a real car than it is with an RC (no matter how nice it looks).........LOL

you know, you could've just bought 1 radio, there was no need for two as the mx-3 has a 10 (i think) model memory...

I think it is 5 model memory but really don't know, anyway Nitro_Freak has a point, you could have just got one.

Yeah, I know. But the receiver for that radio is $85. I figured another $5 and I have an extra xmitter as well.

I posted a thread here and waited for 3-4 days to see if anyone else ran a different receiver with that radio. No one knew for sure.

The only other receiver that the LHS guy new for sure worked was a novak synth that was $100.

I kind of like having the second xmitter anyway. Bomber and I bash together and a friend of ours doesn't have the $ to start RC, so now when he goes to watch, he can also break one of my trucks!

I didn't really give you anything good to go with, other than get a cheaper truck to maintain and run so you don't have the itch to break out the high $ maxx.

It's always a sad day when a $2000 maxx is put away...

i have really been wantin to get a xxx-nt to race out at the lhs. so i think i will put the maxx away for a while and get me a smaller rig to mess around with for a while

I just got rid of one on trade for my little maxx. To bad, I would have let it go relatively cheap.

Make sure one of the first things you get if you get the xxxnt is the RPM fron bumper. It really does it's job well. I broke 8 sets of front arms before and 1 after installation of the bumper... It paid for itself in 1 outing.
