ha! thought id forgotten about this huh???
o how wrong we were.
i got bored, i had a second front axle for the ecto. a few spare servos, and a transmitter with LOTS of channels
i took the gears out of the rear pumpkin, then swapped axles.

it took more thqn just that and its not done yet but its working,
i need a second panhard mount possibly?
the other day i started on a proect with @332_RC about a servo on axle mount for the ecto, this sent me down a project.
when i put the rock pirates bed on i swapped the chasis spacer out with a servo tray. so i got to thinking since the front servo is at 90 to the axle why not a rear servo the same way? i have the room so why not.
swapped axles, gears, greased it all up, threw it all together and she "works"

i got home from the exoplex and went to regrub my shaft........ eew thats dirty
lol turns out i lost the danged thing.
so now we needs a new one before the Old Man can rip the trails again.
I'm wondering if these mip shafts would work?

i havent had any issues with the factory set, is there a good reason to buy this much much more expensive set?

I'm also curious what the difference is between the machined set and the molded set available from Associated.

the machined doesn't have the shaft in the photo, does that mean it is seperate? if so that would make the molded the better choice.
is the machined just a photo without the shaft and its added seperately?

Guessing the aluminum set does not come with the shafts, as you could just use the stock ones with the new end pieces. No need to replace that, unless you lost it 😉

You've been putting that truck through hell and only lost yours because the grub came loose. Just buy the stock ones. You're going to need a new shaft anyway.

Did you put loctite on it?

the first time no, straight from the factory, when I replaced it, yes, the tape was just extra security. 😜

thats kindof what i was thinking, the mip would just be a waste of cash for me, i think I'm gonna go back to the stock set. like @WickedFog said, they lasted this long with no issues, so I'm gonna replace with the same,

I always look at it this way, for the cost of the part and the abuse it has had, it's more than paid for itself. Now if it did the same thing three times I would try something else.

Make sure to put some loctite on the grub. And @Doom!'s tape idea should keep ya from losing it again, provided you don't peel the tape off on some rocks.

so i discovered the differnence if those 2 driveshaft parts...
the machined are the out drives, i got the shafts in today, but the shafts can't hook up without the machined section lol, i found a set from rc junkyard but their shut down untill 7/24 as their set up at the exoplex for his exofest event.or i can wait for close to the same wait from any rc place which would only add like 3 more days to the wait time, but id save 20 bucks doin it this way so looks like we are still waiting

Cannibalize an scx driveshaft? In the past I have used my element driveshaft on an scx10 based truck. If you measure out what you need roughly you could also get something from injora. Just a thought.
Like you, I would wait; just to keep my element all element.

thats not a bad idea, I'm just really broke for next few weeks, vacation hit the pocket EXTREMELY hard/ i have other stuff on it, I'm not heartset on it being element, more that it does its job. i didnt think about using a part lying around, but i dont think i have one of those parts free, I'm definately going to look around tho, any corner i can cut that doesn't hurt performance i gotta chop suey that.
