Hey Guys,

Looking into buying a new 06 Tacoma 4 door with the TRD package and 4 wheel drive all the bells and whistles. Has anyone here bought one or have any advice on them? Thanks guys. Just trying to get as much intel as I can before making a purchase.

my pizza place owner just got one and it looks sweet...got the bling rims on it too...I usually don't like that on a truck but it's not over done on the tacoma....it drives sweet too.....lot of power.....it's not the best on fuel he said...it's supposed to get about 25/gal and he says ONLY if he drives like granny on the highway does it come close.......but it is a truck

Yeah a V6 that is putting out 240 HP is going to drink a bit of gas. I have test driven both the 5 speed Automatic, and the 6 speed manual, and the 6 speed manual is the way to go. It shifts incredably smooth and it is a short throw which makes it nice. Of course that is just me. The automatic is nice, but I like the control the manual gives me. I currently drive a 2003 Tacoma Pre Runner 2WD and I love it, although there is nothing similar between the 03 and the 06 so I have nothing to compare it to.

I thought the one I saw had a V8.....could be wrong...it was fast as hell though.....this guy is brazilian and when I met him he was trying to get me to go to the Gracie training w/ him....we sparred for a while but they are al bout money and don't give a rats ass about you if you aren't from brazil....4 years later and he has the pizza place........I'm in the wrong business.....I keep cars til they die.....

I would have kept my 03 and drove it until the numbers on the Odometer started throwing Greek signs at me, I love the thing, but the new future wife person said I need a bigger truck. So lets just say she didn't have to twist my arm too hard! I just was hoping to get some real user feedback and not just the stuff you read on websites from folks Toyota pays to provide good feedback.... you know from the real folks! LOL Thanks Plaid my man.

I've got an 05 4wd Tacoma in speedway blue, quad cab. TRD off road package, factory towing package, 4.0 v6

I love my tacoma, so far i have 3k miles on it. It has decent power, rides well, handles well, is relatively quiet on the inside and average about 20-22 mpg. (i drive mostly highway and keep my foot out of it)

How hard was it for the dealer to get? Were you able to buy it off the lot, or did the dealer have to truck, or drive it in? According to the dealer I am going through it is a very hard truck to get in that setup (Quad cab, TRD, Manual) I can remember when everything you bought came in manual! Automatic was a pricey option. Now a manual is the hardest to find, and in some cases not even an option. Thanks for the info Nevaren

Mine is automatic... I got it off the lot.
They had 2 on the lot, exactly like mine and one that was manual.
I believe the manual did not have the tow package tho.

I got mine at Carmax Toyota in Laurel, (your profile says Maryland..)

Laurel is not to far away. I am looking at Toyota of Southern Maryland in Waldorf MD. I will have to take a look and see what I can find. I didn't know Carmax sold new rides. That is pretty cool. I bet you got one heck of a deal. I also want the tow package as well. That is also making it hard to find. Do you find the Tacoma quad to be comfortable for folks in the back, or car seats? I have a little one that will need to ride back there, and one in the planning phase. :) Thanks again Nevaren.

Tom

back seats are ok for adults and more than fine for kiddos. I actually dont feel guilty asking an adult to ride in the back seat. but i might if it was an 8 hour road trip...

I rode back there and was very comfortable (I'm 6'2"). wouldn't mind if I took a long trip riding in the back. Plenty of room.

Also, lot's of performance parts from TRD for the Tacoma. My dad had a t-100 (precurser to the tacoma) with the V6. He added a TRD supercharger and cat-back exhaust. This thing would flat out haul. Before the add-ons, it went from 0-60 in around 12 seconds. 8.9 after the blower and exhaust mod. This was checked witha GTech measuring device. Too bad he sold the truck. It required premium fuel due to the blower so it wasn't practical anymore. Fun as heck, though.
