It's funny right up until my youtube feed gets clogged with....I just got some new Amazon basics stuff to try videos
Insert lame juxtaposition word vomit: “While they’re cheaper than company x, there’s nothing BASIC about these bad boys right here!”

The scripts write themselves.

Guys, we're headed to the track to do some racing, but first let's talked about my 100% Amazon basics built car I'll be driving.

Great tactic spinning those towels to confuse the enemy! I bet those little b@stards are terrified!!!

What are you watching again? 🤣

I let the magic smoke out of a servo yesterday afternoon. A rock the size of a rice grain got stuck in the steering linkage of my RS4 causing the servo to jam at full right. 3 decades in the hobby and I've never physically smoked a servo before.

A couple searches on the google later and I learn this is a common occurrence on this car :rolleyes:

I installed a makeshift pebble blocker by sticking some velcro (soft side) inside the poorly placed chassis cutouts directly under the steering linkage that allow the pebble to get stuck in the steering. This should deflect any future servo melters from getting in there. I ordered an Amazon servo as a replacement until I know for sure. There's also something special about using Amazon gear to beat guys who have thousands of dollars worth of cars and setup equipment...in a parking lot race.
I never had that happen but had one jump in the spur gear before on my N RS4's.

Bigger, softer tires and more suspension flex....??
I could go an inch more in diameter on the tires and still get the deck low enough to mow, can't go wider though unless I get rims with more "inset", I'm not sure what that's called.

Front and rear suspension would be the best idea ever.
Qauntum R-Trak suspension.webp

My Quantum Rehab R-Trak RWD has fully independent suspension which works great. The foam on the foot pads was there because they couldn't be raised high enough for my short legs. I now have a new foot rest assembly that fits me.

I can feel the suspension working when I'm using my chair outside.

Something similar to what my R-Trak has would be great for my mower. My mower doesn't even really need a rear axle as such, each drive wheel could have its own brushless motor. Come to think of it, there's no reason why the front wheels of the mower couldn't have brushless hub motors.

The mower currently uses one large brushless motor to propel itself, and two brushless motors each with their own blade for mowing.

None of the nine powerchairs I've owned or still own (currently four) have had brushless motors, too bad, they'd be much better than what they come with.

With each wheel driven I might have been able to back out of those holes. Sadly the only back wheel what was working to get me out of the hole didn't have the traction to do so, maybe if both back wheels had been spinning I might have gotten out of the holes?

If this wasn't my only mower it would be fun to experiment with suspension and motor setups. Also, the company that owns Hart discontinued my mower last December, my mower is just shy of three years old and now there are no replacement parts available at all. I can get tires and tubes for it at Les Schwab but I can't even buy replacement battery packs now. The mower uses a pair of 80 volt 10 amp suitcase style battery packs wired in parallel.

I had that same thing, a very small pebble got caught between the pinion gear and the spur gear of one of my off road 1:10th scale trucks and chewed three teeth off the spur gear a couple of months ago. I'd never had that happen before.

I hate it when this happens.

I'm glad I didn't forget to grab my phone.

Sorry to laugh, I feel your pain man. I could get myself stuck, and I don't have an excuse, or a mower. I am glad you had your phone though. :thumbs-up:

In my 20 years in the hobby it happened once on my stampede and once on my rs4. I've heard people have it happen all the time with gear covers on and laugh. My first mod is taking the cover off and throwing it in a bin. 😆

The rescue workers must know you well! Lots of holes in that yard!!!
I think they do. I had to call for help one day when my last mower's transmission melted when I was mowing the front yard. Yup, my last riding mower actually had a plastic transmission. That thing melted down the very first time we tried to use it, it took all summer to get replacement parts but it was fixed under warranty.

I also had to call them twice when I got stuck in the tub. The first time was the day I found out my muscular dystrophy had gotten bad enough that I couldn't get out of the tub. The second time was when one of the gears of the tub lift I bought after getting stuck the first time had stripped out. That was the second tub lift in two years to fail, the first one had a manufacturing defect which allowed water to get into the motor. So I changed brands of tub lifts and haven't been stuck since.

So, except for three medical emergencies I've had to call for help four times since 2005 when I bought my house.

As long as we are approaching the solution with all the common 4x4 fixes....what about a sand ladder?

Go ahead and laugh, I'm good with it. It's all part of the fun of being born disabled. Like the day in 1996 when I pulled up in the parking lot at E-Z Net, where I used to work. I was using a manual chair while waiting for the weekend to install a replacement lift in my van. I opened my sliding door and pulled my manual chair out and was about to transfer into it when it just rolled away.

My chair ended up in an area where I couldn't get close enough with the van to reach it from the sliding door so I had to wait for another co-worker to arrive to bring my chair back to me.

I'm pretty sure I'd have to build an RC sand ladder dispenser to do that. :P

What about four linear actuators with a tilting mechanism? Rotate them from horizontal to vertical then lower them until the mower wheels are off the ground, then tilt them back to move the entire mower backwards out of the holes. They'd have to be spaced out no further than the drive wheels though or I wouldn't be able to get into my backyard or close enough to mow areas around my house, fence, ramp, sheds, and other such things.
