Came in today from running my Revo and set it on my cluttered workbench to burn the last bit of fuel out of the engine & put the after run oil in. I started messing with a few other things on it then went to answer the phone. I came back put the glow ignitor on and pulled the pullstart. It had about 1 seconds worth of fuel left in it. It turns out that the other thing I was messing with was the throttle return spring, which I forgot to put back on so that 1 second of run time was with an OS.18tm at about 3/4 throttle. Tools flew everywhere, the lamp got knocked off and blew the bulb. It scared the crap out of the dog, who took off like a bat outta hell got tangled up under my so I ended up going down too. It was quite a scene!

lol, thats some good poop. I was out in the yard bashing one time and just filled up and spilled some fuel on my savage. Didn't think nothing of it, put the glow ignitor on, and the whole thing burst in flames. I nearly jumped out of my skin. Luckily for me nothing was damaged.

LMFAO!!! Dude I'm sorry that happend but that is to funny I can picture it now revo going one way dog the other and you flying through the air , lol hope the revo is ok!!! and oh yeah and you and the dog.

Thats great man! you have just done ratzo proud with a story like that. :spit:

i done something like that it was when i had just broke the engine in on my savage i was new to r/c and for some reason i forgot to turn the radio on and i started it up and it drove off at about 15mph i had the radio in my hand still didn't think to turn it on i just put it down to chase it but it drove into a bush before i could catch it.
i have fail safe now.

On that fail safe... I have had my receiver crystal fall out... of course when it does that the wheels turn right and the car throttle opens wide (WTF?)

Does the fail safe protect against that?

the fail safe would put the brakes on or put the throttle back to idle bepands how you set it but it wouldn't do any thing to the steering.

That's good enough!!! :) I can't figure out why the receiver doesn't just have that built in? Is there any application where one would WANT the vehicle to go wide open when it loses communication with the transmitter? LOL

Alex

i wouldn't want mine to go i run in wide open space in a park and theres a river that runs along one side of it and it is about 2 meters deep if it went towards that and went in go buy savage. i think that's worse than it run into the trees that are there or the fences and walls.

Dude that story made my day....
I needed that, thanks.......I never had one go crazy with the engine running but I had an even more stupid looking one happen in the pit in front of about 40 people..
I tested my brakes on my buggy and seeing if it was rolling freely.....the servo was going bad and I guess that was the last pull it had in her, so I push the car across the table the long way and go to hit the brakes again and it didn't wrk....here I am setting all my gear up and it just goes sailing across the table I jump for it and miss it by a knats ass and get to watch it go over the edge and crash....everyone just looked at me and started shaking their heads......I'm the first person they saw crash a buggy w/ the engine off.....I'm gonna have to start using the nickname they gave me at work....CRASH.....I crash PCs all the time doing CADD work...well not so much since CPU speeds got over 1ghz....
UCplays, If you get a PCM or Futaba HRS receiver you have it built in.....

did you see how much that programmer for the Hitec servos is, its like $150 or something, thats crazy, just for the built in failsafe on the servo, thats crazy.
just my 2 cents

Thats a good one LOL! Yeah, after the initial shock wore off I was LMAO too considering the only thing that got broke was the light bulb.

Toooo funny.

I have a bad habit of not turning on my transmitter before I fire off and at least half the time I get similar results.

thats not all the programmer is for. its primary use is to set limits for servo travel. this way you can ensure that if your car ever gets "hit" it wont force the servo to move father than the linkage would let it, thus burning out your servo. when digital high torque servos go for $80+ each, if you have a lot of them, the programmer wouldnt be that bad of an investment

Programmable servo's wow.... I do have to say that when my crystal fell out one time, it went full throttle and hit the rise in the curb... launched that sucker at LEAST 10 ft in the air.... beautiful spiral... hit the ground... flipped 6 or so times... went into the neighbors bushes....

The whole time I'm running after it trying to get my hand on the fuel line to pinch it off. If I weren't so pissed that I lost the crystal, I would have been laughing my A$% off!
