  1. Bashing
How good are the stock radios from traxxas, the stock TQ that comes with the 3.3 jato. thanks, Wayne

They are the same TX for years. I am surprised they have yet to revamp that. They do their job. They only have a one model memory but it is a 3 channel TX.

Good for starting but I would upgrade to an FM at least if not Spektrum TX.

Wayne, they are good in the sense that people typically have 2-3 of them laying around. Often people will carry one in their field bag with them as a spare, so if you are ever bashing and something happened to your remote you could loan one and swap your crystal to it and keep bashing. Now, the receivers aren't going to be any cheaper because its a 3-Channel, but I believe my LHS had them around $29 or so which is good for a 3-Channel.

I have a spare TQ3, in fact it's the reason I don't jump at buying another traxxas. I feel that I'm throwing away money because I don't need another radio, I wished traxxas would release kit verions of their rides (At least, I'm not aware if they have anyway). There's nothing wrong with the TQ3 for general bashing, I seldom get interference if ever even when my receiver wire was cut in half on a rollover on my 2.5 T-Maxx.

I see the Traxxas radio gear as eBay fodder whenever I get a new Traxxas vehicle.

When I pick up the new ERevo, the first thing to go will be the radio and receiver.

I get the most money for them when they are pulled from a brand new rig.

Not to thread hijack as this is somewhat related to the topic, but how much do they typically sell for Rob? I'm assuming you sell TX/RX as a pair?

It has been awhile, but I believe the last TQ3 with receiver I sold was for about $35 plus shipping.

thanks guys I was wondering if they were junk because other companies have nice ass radios.

I hated the feel of it... range was ok and interference was minimal. But in your hand, it felt cheap and "toy'ish".

I'm with you, spend $400+ on a new rig and get a $5 radio. My only guess is that traxxas sticks to cheap due to newbies not needing anything better and old salts replacing it with a receiver that works with their current radio. I know it was the first thing I ditched when I got a traxxas rig. Usually would ditch the servos at the same time.
