I have just purchased my first nitro r/c (a T-Maxx) and have already had problems with wet servos. Has anyone tried this "Plasti Dip" for waterproofing? Is it as easy as looks?

Have you tried searching on this subject? There have been quite a few people on here that have done it.

I am currently searching the subject, I have found directions on how to do it but it looks a little sketchy, something about just dipping my servos into some plastic dip doesn't sit well with me. So far I can find people that have user balloons, and rvt silicone, and liquid electrical tape and they don't seem to be having much luck. I gues I'll just take a chance on the plasti dip and let drive into the first puddle I can find. I'm more worried about snow though.

The scale guys that run their rigs in water and mud all the time are using dielectric grease on the receivers, servos, and esc, seems to work, so I am gonna try that on my new project. I'm not crazy about the ballon and plasti dip ways anyway.

Great Idea

The dielectric grease is a great idea, as soon as I fix my motor mount and get this thing back up and running I will test this and let you know how well it works.

I did the plasti-dip thing and never had problems with water getting in the seams of the case, but rather around the output shaft.

I've since started buying only sealed servos that have built in o-rings around the screws, case parts and output shaft... I figure the manufacturers may have a better chance at sealing up their stuff than myself.

servos

Does Traxxas offer sealed servos for the T-Maxx? Off to the website..........

Not that I'm aware of. A lot of the mid-range/higher end servos are sealed.

I've been buying the hitec 985MG servos. I'll eventually replace everything I have with them. $70, 170oz torque, .13 sec transit time and sealed. A servo with those specs works for a lot of things.

Thanks

Thank you for the tip on the hitech servos, as I ruinb them I now know what I will replace them with.
