Well, I'm making the plunge. Ordered up two LiPo RX packs for the MBX5T and the XB8. See how they go and I am probably going to get the ones for the starter boxes too. I am hoping to have them by this weekend for racing and will report back. Nice thing with Nomadio is the transceiver can take 18V and the servo's can take 7V.

Nice Jet. Which lipo packs did you go with? When did you switch to nomadio and which model did you get? I've been thinking about making the switch and adding an in-line resistor to bring the voltage down since I'm still on Spektrum.

Really? I am considering the same thing, although I was leaning more towards a flux capicitor rather than an in-line resistor using a new titanium-carbon fiber alloy and hooptie cermaincs available only in Luxemborg.

Damn it Jim!!! I'm a doctor not and engineer!

I see that Monkey Wrench stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

Is that what it is? I figured it was just the Monkey talkin' smack! Kinda like the scoring pylons.

I went with htbatteries.com There's a few guys running them in the MBX5T. Got the Nomadio Sensor about a month ago if that. Came across a rater sweet deal on a literally used one time radio with all the chit. It's the cat's ass! The temp sensor is cool as hell and right on, having rx voltage and signal strength is nice too. Plus the weight, huge difference.

Of course he was, I was only doing the same.

How does the RC Pro Series feel about running the lipo packs? Is there a possibility they will be taking ROAR's lead in banning them for competition?

ROAR clarified their position on LiPo's. They are not allowed to run with standard NiMH packs. You can run them as rx packs in nitro or in your TX. You gonna run RC Pro this year? They divided the West division up this coming year. There is now a West and NorthWest which includes NorCal. I've got a scoring pylon for Monkey next time I see him!

I'm considering it, the Western Division has two races that are pretty close to me. I'll have to see how my schedule works out since my hands will be full after June. I'd love to get my LSP on the track but I don't think there is a class for it. Most likely I would run 1/8 buggy.

LSP, runs in Arena Truck aka Unlimited Monster Truck aka Truggy. You can run Intermediate (or Expert if you want to challenge your skills) 1/8th and Intermediate Arena

BTW, Monkey, I've been to Luxembourg several times, never seen them bearings! LOL

Problem is that my LSP is brushless and powered by lipos. Is there anything in the rules about running electrics with nitro?

Oh, I thought that was an MSR you were doing that too. E-mail Carlton and see what he says. How long can it run?

you might have to do BS pitstops and give them a half lap lead..LOL...you should slaughter the nitros with that setup......

With my current packs I can run for 25 minutes. If I need to run longer I could step up higher mah rated packs.

I don't think I'll be slaughtering any nitros with my driving skills. It will be fun to try though. lol

OK, I guess my question is, why are you switching? Are you seeing a distinct advantage to running the li-pos VS a high rated regular rx pack? Keeping the servos fed a nice dose of juice throughout a main is nice, but did you see a drop off with your other packs? What did you use? Corradopsi has been running lipo packs for 2 years, and only had 1 go kaput(technical term). What length of mains do you run?

Just haven't been happy with NiMH packs. Since I got the Nomadio it has become more bothersome to me to watch the voltage on the rx packs, just not consistent, IMO. I have two sets of packs I got at the same time, one will run decent the other is for poop. I just wanted to try something else I guess. A main for RC Pro Series is 45 minutes, not that I make it, but it's not uncommon to run 20-30 minute mains either.
