While running in a drag race this weekend in a parking lot, I noticed the camber on my right front wheel going all over the place. Nothing was visibly broken or damaged, so I disassembled the front end for inspection. I found the problem to be the pin that holds the control arm in the bulkhead no where near long enough. Over time and several collisions, the pin had worked it self back into the bulkhead and theres was nothing to locate the control arm.
My parts breakdown calls for this to be part #5321 and to be (4) 3x20mm and (2) 3X20 pins. As you can see by the pics, the 4 short pins are not the same lenght. The LHS didn't have part #5321, so I don't know if they actually are the correct pins for it or exactly what the deal is with my truck. I ended up taking part #2639 and cutting one of them in half. It ends up being the perfect length for the front end. Just thought I would what I found, hope it helps someone else.

A word from the wise, remove the html code and put the image url inside the "[img*] [/img*]" brackets (WITHOUT THE *) as supplied by the forum. HTML code is not allowed in forum messages.

in otherwords, frame the image url like this >> [img*]http://i889.photobucket.com/albums/ac95/tbusick/DSCN0241.jpg[/img*]

Are you sure your pins didn't break and a piece of them is still stuck in the bulkhead?

I only had mine apart once (a couple years ago) and I can't recall if they were that short or not... I do remember them being short, but not that short.

olds, the bottom arms have shorty "half" pins. One at the front end, one at the rear end.

The top pins are one piece. h8 to say it, but look at the manual for conformation. damn i sound like schmuck saying that to you...................................................

The top pic looks like the bottom pins on the right, and the other bit is what's left of the top one. Good chance there is/was a long piece still in there. BTW, #5321 comes with 4-3x20 and 2-3x40mm pins.

Yeah, I know, but in his first photo, those really short ones almost look too short... or is that a busted one and I missed something in his post?

The two on the left are deffo busted. I don't know if they're all front lower pins, or the remains of one side only.

The 2 on the left are what came out of the left and right lower arms on the front. They aren't broken, they're just too short. All I can figure is it was a manufacturing defect. The pins in the rear of the arms were the correct length. But both pins in the front were intact, just about 10mm too short. The LHS didn't have the part# the book called for, so I found a set of 48mm pins and cut one in half. They worked perfectly.

Now I see. Well they must have been cut or be from another rig then because the lower pins are supposed to be all the same. But you knew that.

Well, sadly, goof's do happen at factories occasionally. nothing much we can do but put up with it or correct it ourselves.

Just take a look at 'yota's situation......................Not the same thing, but the point , I think, is valid.

Glad you sorted it though and a piece of useful info came out too about cutting the longer pins into two to make the bottom pins.

Unfortunately, as pleased as I am with the Revo platform, I have found alot of "goofs" on this particular truck. Talking to a hobby shop owner in a town 2 hours away where I go to race, he said this year has been a very bad year for Traxxas as far as attention to detail goes for assembly.

Now why is that not a surprise....................I had heard they had "slips" in the past where QC was concerned, but never anything truly bad (apart from the shrapnel in the tank bit)

Read my thread about spur gears in the Revo forum. It only took me one try with Integy, I'll never mess with them again.
