A few years ago I came across a few Square D Buck-Boost transformers for a great deal. They are used to power track lighting and tanning beds ect...If I am reading the instructions correctly they can be turned into a 12v power supply and the amount of amps it could output would only really be limited by the AC line power being input. I think it could actually be a 100amp power supply pretty easy. That would power a massive bank of chargers and THEN some. Have any of you had any dealings with these before and how to wire them?

I can't tell by reading the online info for them if it's AC in -> DC out or AC in -> AC out.

If it's AC out, then you will have to build a rectifier to turn the output into DC voltage.

It is made to reduce voltage and convert it (120v AC to to 12v DC or 220v AC to 24v DC) They use it in track lighting to make exposed wiring and connections less dangerous. The lights would run off of DC rather than AC. I will find the model number so I can get the actual schematic.

sounds like you already have the power supply you just need to make some sort of 12VDC bus bar to connect all your stuff to. if it does need a 220VAC input, then you'd first need to find a 220 connection you can use, or get a buck-Boost Transformer (they actually let you increase a voltage but you will decrease the current the final devices can draw)....I do HVAC controls I could help you find some of that stuff if you need help Joey....

It can do 120v or 220v. I will be using 120v since that is what is used here in Japan and the states and wired for 120 it drops to 12v dc single phase off of normal house current. Actually Fishy, a small stack of buck boost transformers is what I have. You are correct they can go either way....increase or decrease. I will be using the decrease.
