I have a body and a 3D printer, and want to design and build a 1/24 RWD RC car. I want it to have hobby grade components and decent performance, but I'm not opposed to cheaper but well known and tested brands. With so many choices out there, and the obvious need for the system to work together, I'm not confident enough to start ordering components. I have the following in mind:

Motor- could be fine with brushed motor, as long as it performs well. Brushless may be overkill. I'm not racing.
Receiver/ESC- combined unit, to save space and weight?
Battery- Size? Capacity? Type? I have an advanced programmable charger for any type.
Radio- must obviously work with the receiver.
Servo- small but not too small? Also, I'm not building a drift car.. just a sports car.
Differential- Prefer the motor to be transverse, placed in front of the rear axle/diff.

The car is 1/24 and low profile. The chassis will be custom designed and 3d printed for the components and body. I know I could probably just modify a Mini Z or similar chassis, but want to do it differently.

Does anyone have a list of compatible makes and models for the components listed above?

What I'm looking for is a complete list of suggestions...ie. if you were to shop for all the components listed, and they obviously need to fit in a 1/24 scale vehicle, perform, and work together, what would you pick?

It's a custom build. Not really sure what to tell you to get. But Furitek should have enough stuff to get you started.

There are some 1/24 scale chassis out there for drifting or touring cars, that use 1/25 scale model car bodies. Look at www.helidirect.com
Maybe that will give you some ideas.

I would buy a wltoys 1/28 - 1/24 size drift car or truck and reverse engineer what you don't like about it. That way you get electronics, and all the parts needed to swap it over to a chassis based on your design.
Otherwise, it's going to be hard for us to lay out a complete list of parts. Theres probably some part diagrams for the mini-z's somewhere around the web?
