How do you guys clean your fingers after workin on your car?

I have the "crack fiend" fingers affect. I can't stand my
fingers being so dirty. I've scrubbed and scrubbed but
my fingers still look like I smoked crack all night. haha. :)

TIA

Just to help get the junk out from underneath your fingernails I use a medium brush along with Gojo.

I just use normal liquid soap. Only difference is I use the soap before I use water. Cleans A LOT better.

No dude.. he's got a point if you have any callous to your hands, or use your hands for manual labor, that damned nitro+dirt = crack fingers.

I don;t know about the long terms affects, but the best hand cleaner I ever used was WD-40 or Go-JO

WD-40 will take the dirt off in a hurry, no water till after you're clean.. as a matter of fact when I ran high steel crews the owner of the company bitched me out all the time for charging it to the company account. Well all it took was once for him to get some construction adhesive stuck to him once.. I handed him a can..he says "buy it by the case I get it now"

I'm with Rolex on this one, go with the citrus based automotive hand cleaner, something like FAST Orange works best.

:flamer: Everyone here has the best ideas, they all work great. But if you have some really stubborn stuff you can't get off (had to goto wedding dinner one night). Use reg. gas and a sponge or scrubby, just no smoking crack :flamer: (or anything for that matter) while washing, works wonders!!! Any kind of dishsoap usually gets rid of the gas smell also!

i use comet and a scrubby pad. It works well. It is a bleach product and when wet it forms a paste.

I can't stand the smell of gas. Dishsoap takes away most of the smell, but not all of it. I've been set on fire a couple times and the smell of stale gas on my skin turns my stomach... Now I have OCD whenever I get gas on me. I know it's gone, but I can still smell it.

like when you see something like insects and you think they are crawling on you.

Hey Wils, go to Harbor Freight and pickup a hundred pack of surgical gloves and you won't need to worry about cleaning the grime off. I started using them when I was in Aviation and I have used them ever since.

Scott.

surgical gloves sounds like a really good idea.
wow, didn't realize how many ways their are to wash your hands haha :hammer:

OK, here's the scoop.

Before you work on the car drag your nails across a bar of soap. That'll fill your nails with soap to stop dirt getting under them.

To clean your hands afterwards, use plenty of sugar or salt (or your choice of abrassive yet dissolvable product) moistened with dishwash liquid and water. Not only does it get your hands really clean, but the abrasiveness of the sugar/salt/whatever leaves them very soft too.

I've been working on cars on and off for over 25 years, and I've yet to find a product that works better.
