I am just about to start the S-25 in my new SS. I sealed the backplate and the carb with high-temp RTV and I used Red Loc-tite on the screws. I put a few drops of after run oil in the motor and pulled the starter a few times.

It seems as though I only get 1 compression stroke per pull. Is that right? I figure that 1 compression stroke per pull might make starting kind of difficult.

What do you guys hold on to when pulling the starter cord? I have to hold something otherwise the truck comes off the ground.

might wanna loosen the glow plug a bit,i get way more then 1 compression 3-4 maybe and another thing i dont think you should use red lock tite its going to be a real bitch to get off when you have to,if you loosen your glow it might get more...try it out if not you may have some problems

i just put my foot on one of the back tires then pull the cord. it works for me. or put your foot on the bumper. and loosening the glow plug might work with the compression.

damn i guess your right i would of never thought well i guess you better use some red lock tite....lol sorry

hb1111 you were correct. I removed the glowplug and pulled the cord all the way and I got about 5 compression strokes.

BTW - How are you guys holding the exhaust outlet to prime an empty fuel line (primerless tank)? One hand on the pull starter, one hand on the roll bar to hold the truck, need another hand to plug the exhaust...

I used red loc-tite on every single metal to metal screw, even those little collar set screws. I hope I can get this thing apart when it breaks. :dumb:

What I do is first prime the engine, then put my hand on the roll bar, put the ignitor on, and pull the starter. You don't have to do it all at once.

I got the optional primerless tank and I do not have a primer button. I am supposed to plug the exhaust while pulling the starter cord.

People have been installing primer bulbs to help prime the engine. You can use the one for the MGT or there is one by Ofna. I'm thinking of doing this once I pick up an 25RTR tank without the primer.

Just hold the truck down with your forarm and plug the tip with your finger and give it a couple quick pulls.

It's a pain sometimes and I use my foot on a tire. But I just installed a MGT primer bulb... works much more gooder! No more double jointed needs. After installing, mine started on the second pull today. Although, I'm haveing a hell of a time keeping the exhaust pipe on from high landings... another thread or some pointless ingenuity.

just wipe off the stinger and blow into it. saves the time and headache of priming with the pullstart.

What I do to prime an engine with a pull start (and primerless tank) is the following: I use a silicon exhaust deflector and put a small stone in it when I want to prime the engine. Then you need one hand less... Althought this is not the reason why I use a deflector, it makes priming the engine really easy.
