I am looking for a few Pro parts to upgrade my RTR. I am basically looking for hinge pin braces, shock towers - Fr & Rr, and BB steering plate. I am also looking to get some other braces, etc. But those parts I listed, I have looked at Stomer, Horizon, & SoutheastRC. They are all "out of stock" on these parts. Does anyone know anyplace that does have them in stock... and if there is any reason why they are so hard to find???

Thanks for any help you can provide...

You have the same problems that I've been having.

I was fortunate enough to get some of the parts before they all went out of stock on horizon (and elsewhere) but I still need some other parts and you just can't get them right now.

There's a ebay vendor called galaxy hobby that's been selling a lot of storm pro parts in packages from broken down storm pros. Unfortunately, you can't just buy one or two parts, you have to buy his whole package, but it is cheap. He also doesn't do buy it now auctions unfortunately..

For now, ebay is the only place I can find anything. Apparently there's a problem with some machine at GS that's preventing them from manufacturing some of their parts, which is probably causing a lot of trouble with stock.

There's other companies that make some of the parts you mentioned. If you have the cash, there's no beating the Hardcore Racing shock towers (which you can call and order direct from) and dynamite makes hinge pin blocks (which horizon is out of stock on but you may be able to call Dynamite and order direct.)

The steering plate, some people make aftermarket ones on ebay but they mostly seem to be replacements for the RTR plate, without the bearings. I will add though that it doesn't end up making a huge difference in the end.

Personally I'm looking for the adjustable servo saver and bearings for it at the moment.

Thanks Pirata, but as I mentioned, they are out of stock on most of the parts.
Also, Hobbytown USA is just Horizon's site with a different heading.

The holeshot shock towers are not good, don't waste the money.

I had them and the second time I flipped, I bent the front one. Then during some races, I bent the rear one.

Not only do the fins on them bend, but the place when you screw in the shock, where the holes are, will bust out.

They musn't use strong aluminum.

What we don't need is aftermarket companies making parts of the same quality, that is, GS's shock towers are sufficient for normal use but just don't cut it at any level above that, so why would I buy something from another company when the quality is the same as stock ? To me, aftermarket means upgrade, and upgrade means better than stock. I listen to what folks, (at least some of them), say in here. That's how I came upon the HardCore Storm pieces. I know most of us are on some kind of buggy budget and the Titanium, carbon fiber, 7075 aluminum might be a bit pricey but what value do you put on "down time" ?
What a shame it would be to just have installed that replacement "stock" tower, go out and break it within the first hour of running ? Sure, that high end stuff breaks too. But in comparison that high end stuff is superior in quality and performance. With high end upgrades (certain ones, of course), you have increased your ability to push things to the extremes.

Cbreaker - You are right.

I saw a set of Holeshot shock towers (front & rear) and Hinge pin braces (front & rear) on Ebay for $49.99. It seemed like a good deal but I couldn't find anywhere in the listing or on their site what grade of aluminum it was. I did find a phone number for them and called. Turns out they are made from 6061, which is the same as the stock ones. They may be a little thicker(???), but 6061 is pretty soft stuff so I passed... Now I'm glad I did. Sorry you had to find out the hard way.
Dynamite makes some 7075 upgrades, the Storm Pro stuff is 7075, and then the Hardcore stuff is Titanium. I guess I would consider those to be listed in order of their quality as well. I can't justify the cost of Titanium for my use (casual racer), but I want to be competitive and durable, that's why I have chosen the "middle" road and am going to the storm pro parts and probably some carbon fiber braces. I hope this turns out to be a good decision for cost effective upgrades. (cost to benefit ratio)

Fortunately for me, the shock towers were thrown in the box with my storm when I got it. The guy never used the buggy and never even put them on.

The hinge pin braces from holeshot also don't fit very well. All in all I'd avoid them.

I feel as though the hardcore racing shock towers are too expensive, at $42 a pop. However, after I broke these ones, I decided that I never wanted to deal with bent shock towers again and I went for it. They are strong and I was able to buy direct from Hardcore. I doubt I'll ever need to replace one of these things. I think it was worth it.

When you bend a shock tower, chances are pretty good you're also going to bend a shock shaft and screw that up too.

All in all, with the upgrades I've put into this buggy, I feel as though I would have broken it many more times then I have if I just left the stock stuff on it. I mean, just today I smashed into a sidewalk a full throttle because of a fail safe mishap, and all I broke was a screw.

It's not cheap, so it's up to the individual to decide how much they want to invest in the hobby.

But anyways, we've gotten a little off topic =)

I have had no problems with the Dynalite stuff, I have both shock towers, the drag link, and the hardened chassis. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money on Titanium stuff, waaaaaaaay toooooo much money.... I can buy alot of other parts for that kind of money.

Rc nation is a great place for the high end stuff. The guy that runs the place just drives down to GS and buys the stuff from the wharehouse. Plus the guy is really nice.

All the Fioroni parts on rc nation seem to be "discontinued" but I wonder if it's just him or if it's GS that's discontinuing them?

Those are retail prices. Gs has 3 different ratings. dealer cost. retail price. and MSRP or list price.

I agree something seems to be a foot with with GS. Why can't we buy the Avenger or am I mistaking can you buy it somewhere? Well not on Horizon Hobby? I really don't get all those parts being out of stock with Horizon Hobby. Maybe it is the season and a lot of people did buy Storms so maybe they are just having trouble filling orders but what's up? The Avenger was supposed to be available a few weeks after the World's Warm up. Just don't get it here. Maybe I will send my friend @ GS in SoCal an email to see what's the haps.

What I was told is that GS was having shipping problems or something like that. That is why everyone is out of parts.

Retail price is the price you pay at your LHS. It is usually marked down a little from MSRP( manufactures suggested retail). At least that is how it is at my hobby shop. Most of the stuff they sell is cheaper than the list price from the big companies,

LOL!!!

Darin you're funny man!!!

I know what the definition of "retail prices" is. I meant, what are you referring to. There was no mention of any pricing except for the Hardcore Ti shock towers and then you posted "Those are retail prices", I didn't know what prices you were referring to.

Thanks for the explanation though, it was a good one...

The reason I said that was because womeone said the parts seemed discounted..LOL I must have been in a typing mood.

I do not think Honnytown is Horizon though. Hobbytown may order from horizon but unless they merged they used to be 2 different companies.
