I'm planning to convert my storm to electric, with a Hacker C50 12L brushless. On 12 3300GP matched cells, it will be an insane rocket ship, as quick or quicker than a healthy .21. :w00t:

It will be great to tear up the track without bothering the neighbors! I should have the motor on Monday, but I won't be able to start on it until afer next weekend because of the Hobby Visions show in vegas. I will make a thread in members projects when I start, with video...

Edit: I am guessing it will be quicker than a .21. The torque and traction of a single hacker C50 in a Cybermaxx just has to be seen to believed, so in a buggy it will just be sick!!

Sounds like a cool project. A guy did an ele. conversion to a OFNA in one of the last issues of RC Driver.Had to put "flip me over,i'm electric" on the bottom b/c the marshalls thought the buggy stalled. :hammer:

do a search for "buggy" on rcpics.net there are some vids there of some converted buggies.

It might be worth bearing in mind that nitro engines are typically high rpm/low torque. Keep an eye on the diffs, they may not last that long with all the torque produced by that brushless motor.

Sounds like great fun though. Good luck and do let us know how you get on.

hacker 1/8 buggy right click save as!

i went and found it for you guys. its a very similar setup to what you have planned so it will give you an idea as to what your in for. looks fast, but doesn't make enough noise for me

I'll be paying attension to this build. Can you paost a link to the build thread in here when you start it? Thanks, and good luck!

Corrado that link is cut off. I'm exited about it, but I had a great time racing my storm with the picco 26 last night. So now the plan is to buy a storm roller from a frend and have both!

Thanks psu, I will look for that article.

where did you race last night scott... we were at scottsdale rc... didnt see you there.

At my house. I had over a whole new group of newbies with tmaxxes and savages. They were not happy about the jumps on my track, but the savage guys had RCS roll cages and were ok, the tmaxxes all broke. Then Luke and I put on a hilarious 10 minute moto with our storms. I did a leapfrog pass landing 6 feet in front of him, he bumped me out of turns like Robby gordon on Tony stewart - it was a blast. Sorry I didnt think to call...

hmm, it worked for me. i checked it after i posted it. you have to right click it and "save as" or it will cut you off with a message about saving bandwidth. ill check it again when i get home and if its dead ill pull the link, thanks for the heads up. you can search for it yourself on www.rcpics.net just search for a off-road video with "electric buggy" in the search line

Thanks Corrado. It did say bandwidth something, so I searched. Are you talking about the Kanai conversion from sweden? That thing is fast!

Is there anywhere that says kinda like a step by step of how to do this mod? I thought there was, but for the life of me, I can't find it. Thanks

Not that I know of. I was planning to design a motor mount bracket from scratch, then figure out how to hold the batteries and mount the controller later. It will probably lead to an RC Solutions conversion kit.

A guy I race with has converted an MBX-4 to electric. He uses a Hacker Brushless, and Li-Poly batteries....I think it can run a 30 minute main on the same pack! If you're interested, I can get him on here for some discussion..

I'd be interested in that,, can you drop a PM with some info on it? I was just going the other way with a newly built Jconcepts bj4,, making it a 1/10th nito car...

thnx..

Thats impressive jmart, does he run in the same class with nitro cars? I would think some one would find a reason to compain about him. I would love to run li polys but I have 6 top of the line KMR matched 6 cell 3300 packs for now. I'm putting the whole thing off for the next week or so.
