ok i got the white rims and i hate it, there is no color to them, could i jsut spray paint it  I want to do red and green for christmas, my car body is going to be National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, so i want my wheels to match. :devious:

Getsome rit dye and dye them. Spray paint will just chip off and the dye will cook into the plastic.

don't paint them. Get some green and red rit dye. The paint will look like poop after you do one lap around the track.

i see that you want to do a 2 tone type wheel. whats form of paintting spray paint or airbrush? if you can airbrush. try createx auto air and a good quality automotive clear. if you prep the wheels right sand first wiht 800 grit sandpaper and make sure thay are degreased nice then take time and basecoat and spray the things. the clear has to be automotive quality or the exhaust will catch it and take it off. you can also try Duplicolor spray can paints @ auto zone or strauss again preparation is the key.

or you can die a simplecolor and paint the secondary color.

Handle the wheels with your hands then do a short die period with prolly the red first. Let them cool and handle them again, the grease from your skin will botch the die job if you do it in short sessions. Then do a short session with the green and see what you get.

I've done this in the past with old RC10 white parts using blue and purple. Used to get kindof like tigh die parts when finished. get some old parts and try different methods, it'll look trick.

so i should get this rit red dye and drip my wheels in it? should i take the white off first?

You can buy the RIT dye anywhere, walmart, grocery store, etc for about $2. I wouldn't do anything to the white if you are going to dye it. If you sand it, it will simply dull your surface when you dye it and look like crap. Leave it w/ the glossy finish. Just make sure it is clean from all grease and oil. You can use rubbing alcohol to clean it off and then rinse it w/ hot water and let it air dry. It will then be ready to dye.

Here is a link on how to do the 2-tone dye job. Check out how he got the two colors. You can simply change the water level and the way you have the wheel to give you all kinds of effects. Maybe a green rim w/ a red lip? Or 1/2 of the rim green and the other half red? Etc....

Wait, I wanna know how your gonna get the white off... Then you'll have clear rims.... lol

Like a few have already said, use the rit dye on your rims. I used the dye on my Maxx rims, per the directions on the bottle, and they turned out pretty nice. And, pop the tires off the rims before you do it.
