I'm Looking for and inexpensive buggy motor for a mbx-5...the track i run on is medium sized, and i wont be entering any a-main events anytime soon so a mild mannered motor with plenty of bottom end would be great....I've looked into the Nova/Top T21B motor, OS 21 VG, and the Dynamite platinum 21.
Are there any more motors that i should consider i want to spend at or below 200. Thanks and will most likely be running a 086 pipe on it unless another would work better with the motor i decide to run with. Thanks-Q

Do you know of anywhere that i can get it cheaper than tower? they list it as 280 which is a smidgen over what i want to spend thanks

just buy an os vzb. Its huge low end mid and top end power. you can't go wrong with one. I got mine for 225$ on ebay brand new shipped. just find one of the buy it now or best offer auctions and keep offering them 225-250 til they take it. Honestly it will be worth your while to save for an extra week or two if need be and buy one instead of spending 200 on something else, its worlds ahead of anything else you mentioned. Pros race them in thier truggies and they flat out make a buggy scream.

i say a nova p5x

That was my first choice but i don't think i need that much motor right now. I'm leaning toward a nova motor because of there inherent quality and ease of tuning. I think a 3 port motor would suffice i believe i dont need a "pro" motor at this point. I dont wanna be looping it all over the place lol

I've heard alot of good things about the nova/top T/N21b and they seem like they would be good motors anybody have personal exp. with them?

I think I'm going to go with the hot mod Nova/Top T21B unless i can find a deal on the Werks thanks also another question are the Dynamite pipes basically the same as the other pipes as in quality? Or should i go ahead and get a Nova or Ofna pipe?

I really have no dealings with the Dynamite pipes. I would try the pipe you have, and maybe try a JP-3 or a Ofna 053, the 053 is a "mid" pipe and may smooth your bottom, but wont rev hard on top.But different pipes react a little differently on other mills.

After reading the description of the Ht Mod Nova mill, your 086 will be just great for it!! Saves you the $$$ for a new pipe

Also I'm thinking of going to an RC8 do ya'll have any opinions on this buggy..Mugen parts are becoming and order only affair and its quite expensive depending on the part. thanks-Q

Well I have heard a lot of positive about these buggies. If you are running a MBX-5 and not a R, it MAY be worth it. BUT, if you are just club racing, are you REALLY going to save? You will have to buy a new buggy(but a nice one), and spares for it. VS keep buying spares for the Moogen. It is a tough one, you never know how much longer the bits will be there for the Mugen, but with the RC8 you SHOULD have a few years of haveing a "current" buggy.

My lhs stocks a lot of parts for the RC8, versus almost nil for the x5, and quite a few of the guys are running the RC8 now so i can get some set-up help. I also found a good deal on a nova p5x so I'm going to wait to see if it comes out, if not I'm going to go ahead in p/u the t21b-Q
