also, your attitude has a lot to do with it. sponsers want a kind, well mannered, helpful, represenative for thier company. the kind of person that helps everyone at the track. if you can finish well consistantly, and be a courtious driver on and off the track, sponsers will come to you. there are also different types of sponserships available. some are just discounts on parts, which are most common. some are half rides, where they give you a deep discount on thier products but expect you to run only thier products. some are full local rides, where you get your gear for free but in limited amounts and if you want to travel to race its out of your pocket. the last and most rare is a full ride with everything you need given to you, including travel expenses. these are the only types, theres a lot of flexability involved depending on the company, but its a good idea of whats out there. you can also approach local companies that arent even RC related. present them your racing record, and think of something you can offer them. usually advertising, put thier name and only thier name on your car in exchange for money or parts or services depending on the type of company. get creative.
