Anybody here have a grey antenna on their SR3000 Spektrum receiver? I recently bought a couple from ebay (new) and the wire is grey instead of black. The grey wire is also about half as thick in diameter as the black.

The reason why I ask is because one of the receivers refused to bind. When the receivers were shipped they were not in boxes, just plastic bags. It made me wonder if these were possibly refurbished units. I did contact the seller about the defective rx and am awaiting an answer. Just curious if anyone else has a grey wire on theirs.

I have two that. one grey and black. Both work fine.

WHen you say bind what do you mean?

BINDING
Each module has it own unique code (called GUID). The receiver must be programmed to a specific module so that the receiver will only recognize that module, ignoring signals from any other sources. This process called binding is push-button-easy and takes only about 30 seconds. During the binding process the servo fail-safe positions are also set. It's necessary to bind the receiver to the module during first installation and is recommended when the receiver is moved from one car to another. Multiple receivers can be bound to a single transmitter module, common when using one transmitter to operate several models.

Ah... Next time I get one I will have to try rather than have my neighbor hook it up. Thanks Rob.

Heard back from the seller and I've got to send it back to Horizon for replacement. So same deal as Artimus. I am a bit pissed off that I received a defective rx and the seller is not taking the responsibility of handling the return. I won't be doing business with them anymore.

That sucks bro. Sorry bout the sour deal.

Just a fyi, mine were both grey new out-of-the-box. customer service was excellent in both attention and time. bummed about having a problem in the first place but they were real quick about resolving it.

I've got a total of three Spektrum receivers in various vehicles. All of mine have the gray antenna wire and all of them were bound with almost no trouble after yours truly figured out how to hook up the power correctly. My dealing with Spektrum's customer service was very positive. They were knowledgeable and really willing to help the customer.:drink:

I just opened up my new M11, Spektrum pro module/receiver pack, and my extra receiver, and one wire was gray, the other black.

Thanks for chiming in guys. It doesn't sound like the grey wire units are refurbs, I guess they just decided to change the wire color. I have sent the defective RX back to Horizon for a replacement.

Sorry SD, don't mean to derail this, but has anyone ever re-attached the antenna wire to the Spectrum RX before? At the last race, the wire came off, managed to find the wire and have re-attached wires to traditional RX's, but not sure if it can be done to the Spectrum RX without toasting it.

Thanks!

For those of you having problems with getting the spektrum receivers into binding mode, double check you power leads that they are correctly installed. If they are reversed the led will light up green but will not enter bind mode.
