Losi in top 3 of choices. Losi, revo, savage. Hmmmmm!

Out of those, I wouldn't even think about the Revo. The other 2 are bashable out of the box, the Revo will require upgrades to get that type of durability. So if you're buying new, get the 8ight-T or Savage. The only way I'd consider a Revo is if it's a deal that's too good to pass up.

I think the losi 8ight t is what I'm lookn for... My only concern is the stock 4"tires. Great for speed on smooth tracks. But i dont think that they be good hill climbing. However may be a little money left to
Buy bigger tires&different clutch bells to fit the needs of what I'm doing. THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL!!
ill let u know what i get....

The tires are an easy fix, it has 17mm hexes, so you should be able to run some MT wheels/tires as long as you get the backspacing right.

Higher Highs

A big thanksgiving thanks to all. Great info. Not sure where ill run or what ill do. But whatever i
Decide i want to be able to do it.... With pride...knowing oh yaaah i own this beast...

Hi ksrichard,
If I understand your desires: hpi 106364 Special Limited Edition, Oh Yeah!
But seriously, You want speed, toughness and go fast and high.
hpi Savage X 4.6 Big Block. Will go over 50mph when broke in and tuned correctly, and can easily reach jumps of 16-20 feet. As seen in vids on youtube of some ridiculous fun antics involving Savage X 4.6 models and awesome big air. Ah, some with miraculous rough landings, yet hit the ground running, so to speak.
Get yourself a Savage X and buy a Spectrum DX3s with its included two receivers, one with telemetry.

Chas

The savage isnt going to go over 50MPH out of the box. My buddies stock savage does 32MPH which is about average for an out of the box MT. My XXL does between 30-35MPH (I'm guessing). I havent clocked it but its on par with my friends Stock Savy.

No offense savage not fast out of box. Mabye i watched to many bad videos of savage, however it will take those jumps and landings all day long..
1 for savage.revo lookn bad for my needs out of box..losi 8ight t. Lookn good. It comes with dx3s.one
For losi. Stil can't beet the way the revo handles. One for revo... Hmmm.
I'm not trying to be difficult. Its awesome to hear opinions of the members!! Please continue to help me make the right choice

The Losi will take more abuse than a Savage, racers have to be able to take abuse and go back out for the next round. Even though I think the buggy will take the abuse better than the truggy, the buggy has shorter arms so they experience less torque in crashes and cartwheels.
The Losi will destroy the Revo in handling, truggies are why the MT racing class is almost dead.
The Losi will have the easiest maintenance, you have to be able to do any repairs in between races.

I'm no racer. But i think i found my next nitro!!!!!!!!!... Ill keep u posted. Thanks for all ur help. May have
More questions. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!

I was just stating what features make racers good bashers. Watch a buggy or truggy race, you'll see the abuse they take. Now as with any RTR, the 8ight-T may have some issue. To limit these, it's always a good idea to go through a new truck and check all of the screws and make sure any metal to metal screws have some thread locker on them. If you have any $$ left over, you could look into swapping over to some HV servos. The main advantage is the same as with lipo batteries in any other application, no loss of power while running your rig. You can check the packs voltage on your remote, but I would still get an external LVA, you can never be too safe with lipos. Just to add, Horizon Hobby has GREAT customer service, I've had great experiences with them and GreyWolf went on a rant about how he had a crush on them or something like that.

I got 43 mph out of my Savage XL. That's with a 17/49 cb&sg combo. 3 speed trans and an LRP .32 engine. I thinks that's pretty fast considering how hefty the XL is.

LOL yeah it gets pretty unstable at that speed. One little twitch of the steering wheel and it does more flips and cartwheels than a cheerleader at a Friday night ball game.

That is fast... Lhs can have losi in 2 days for around 770. On line havnt seen
it cheaper than 799. If i buy it elsewhere lhs said it will cost me for repairs. If i buy it there
He will cut me slack on repairs. Only 1mile away.. Got me there.

fix it yourself....thats half of the hobby :)

but yeah I dont think your find it much cheaper than 770 though.

I usually do. But if i have questions or need advice on how to fix something they will help. However,
I know that I can always count on all of my fellow hobbists of nitro talk to lend some helpful advise
And pointers to get the job done. Thanks!!!!!

Neither one of the Savys are stock...I was refering to a stock Savy X 4.6....never said you couldnt make em go that fast

Hi greywolf74,
Yeah, I see what you mean, when I look at several of thee other Savage X Kits.
Stock hpi parts though, eh?
It would seem that mine is indeed, a Special Limited Edition...
My error, it says 45+. On the box.

This was asked 4 years ago, so I'm sure some headway has been achieved.

How fast does a Savage x 4.6 big block go?
I know the package says 45+, but how much is "+"?

The speeds on the package are ones that were reached by the factory guys in their testing phase. The "plus" means that with different settings or gear ( like fuel mixture settings, clutch bell and spur gear tooth sizes, tires, bearings, air filter, air temperature, relative humidity, even the engine, and so on...) you can achieve faster speeds.

Speed on...
