I am completely new to rc. I just ordered my first rc car a couple of days ago, an ofna lx2. I have heard from various people on this site that the servos were no good so I thought that I would post this thread to see if anyone has recommendations on what spare parts I should stock up on, and to see what kind of servos I should buy as replacements for when the stock servos go out. I have heard great things about Savox? from youtube and various forums. But what I really need to know is what size to get because trying to understand all the numbers and digital and metal geared is all still like a foreign language to me. Any recommendations and insight would be appreciated. I guess you could say my style of driving will be bashing, if that changes anything.

The intronet is a good thing but,you'll get the best advise and retain said info. so much better if you go down to your Local Hobby Shop.Us men folk learn with our eyes and hands and when your starting out in a new hobby that can run into lots of money as the years roll by, a good base of knowledge and solid one on one interaction with people in the hobby is the best way to go
 
Anything in the 180oz/in+ range would be fine for a basher buggy. For a good budget servo I recommend looking up "CheapServoMan" on ebay....his 244oz/in .14speed servos are pretty nice for the money. Savox makes really good servos too. I would get some extra front A arms but other than that I would just replace parts as needed.
 
I would love to go to our Local Hobby Shop, but sadly, it recently closed. I think they closed the track too. So I am left to the wisdom of those who wish to share thier opinions with me on here.
 
man o man i could have wot that. lost my very good shop. but he didnt have a track. i realy miss the shop, they treated me like a king, and the kids that worked there was top notch techs.

Thanks agian for the great info, I checked out the servos on ebay pretty good prices.
Also I saw a video on youtube about how to adjust the centerpoint and trim on the servo, the guy adjusted the steering trim so it would go straight then he took the servo horn off and set the trim back to 0 and put it back on. Wouldn't you still have to adjust the trim because you took off the servo horn and it was dangling, or would it line up right and your straight line would actually be zero? if that makes sense.....
 
The spare parts you need are a couple of glow plugs and maybe another ignitor. Don't be running out and buying spare parts until something happens to your truck. (or buggy or?) Your servos just might last a long time. I'm sure if you run it for a little while, something will happen and you will then know what you need. If you start buying parts you might end up with a bunch of stuff that you never use.

use what ever u want as far as i know. u just have to make sure its rich so that its well lubricated and doesn't over heat. your suppose to stick with one % of fuel and stay with it as far as i know. someone else might be able to put more info to that.

NO! If you have the force .28 engine , the instructions for your buggy say to break it in w/20% fuel. And YES, you can use the 20% you have, as long as it is still good. You need a good fuel that is a blend of synthetic and castor oil. I used to run 20. Now I run 25% in all my engines and it works for me.
 
cars and trucks are designed to run on 20% and 30% nitro content fuel. 10% is for like airplanes or something. As for centering your servo disconnect the servo horn and set your trim to zero. Make sure your bell crank is squared up at a 90 degree angle then with your TX/RX on (so the servo is centered) reconnect the servo horn. If your tires arent pointing straight ahead (or have Zero degree of toe) then adjust your Toe links until the are or until they have the amount of toe in/toe out that you want. If your just bashing start with Zero degrees. Then after that adjust your camber links so you have Zero degrees of camber (or in other words until the tires are pointing straight up and down). Once you have everything centered and Zeroed then you can start adjusting it as you see fit for what your doing at the time.
