That's vintage Futaba from the early/mid 80's. I have one of those in my basement. And also the 2-stick version of the same model. Back in the day that transmitter was all the rage. I had it mounted up in my Associated RC12E that I raced in middle school. It was a while before the first versions of the modern wheel controller came out. Unfortunately, those transmitters are no longer useable because the FCC realigned the AM band years after they came out and the channels they work on are now no longer available for RC use.

I've tried using it on one of the cars it came with but i can't get more than two feet from it, is it because of the AM band?
