Just had to share this little tale with you all, hope you get a kick out it.
A week or so ago I bought two .21 engines from eBay. One is an Ofna and the other a HPI. I posted pictures of them on this forum asking for help identifying them and received a tremendous amount of help. Finally determined that the Ofna is a .21 Force P4 and the HPI a Nitro Star .21BB.
So, armed with this information as well as reading in other threads that these two engines are essentially identical, I take the Ofna to my LHS to get some basic parts to bring her back to life (like a one-way bearing, pull start and fresh gaskets.) Walk into the shop, one of the better ones in Cincinnati, and Joe Frizzy-Head Know-It-All Punk starts chirping away about how he won't have any parts for that old Kyosho motor! I told him I was glad to know that, especially since I was there to get parts for this newer Ofna engine and had the part numbers for it! After he asked what it was going in and I explained that I was rebuilding a vintage Kyosho Nitro Crusher (USA-1), he looked at me like I had three eyes or something and mumbled something about it being a waste of time and impossible to find parts.
I tell you, I do not claim that I know all there is about this fantastic hobby (or addiction), but what truly chaps my ass to no end is when I have to deal with some dipshit like this! If I had wanted his opinion, I would have either asked for it or given it to him! I realize rebuilding my old Kyosho may draw the occassional snicker or chuckle, but you don't have to be ass about it!
Anyhow, walking out of there knowing I'd taught that little asshat something about engines gave me a little satisfaction.
No real point to this, just wanted to pass along a little tale.
