Thanks for the offer Tom, but I'll have to pass on the avatar :D

The boredom and feelings of uselessness, and being a burden on the wife and kids is really bothering me. I HATE not being able to do much for myself without some sort of help, it's killing me! I can't even carry a glass of soda or coffee to the table by myself since I can't walk at all without crutches, something so simple and I have to have help with it.:\

Sorry to hear about this. But my pap is in the EXACT same boat. When he got hit by a truck on December 1st, he could no do anything. Still he is sitting in his chair and can't go anywhere without crutches, he needs to sit down on a chair with his leg propped out of the shower, and he has to have his wife, or his grankids (me) do it for him. I have no problem with that and I feel bad about it. And i feel sorry for you because i know how it is. He is still in his chair and walking with crutches.

Hey Joe... I know what you mean. For the first almost two months of the 3 I needed help with everything from getting a glass of water, to taking a shower. I hated it... I like you felt the weight of being a burden on my family. The hard part for me was that I knew deep down I was not a burden... as my wife told me several times... but there were a few times that I could see it in her eyes that she wished I could do more for myself. I know it sucks.. but I am willing to bet the farm that your wife does not think you are a burden. I know it is easy for me to say... but hang in there. Your leg will heal as mine did and you can spend the rest of your life making it up to your wife and kids! LOL Seriously though...if there is anything at all I can help you with just let me know. If anything I can be there to listen.... I've been in your shoes before, and I know it is not a great place to be. PM me with your number if you ever want to chat. Hang in there Bro!

You nailed it, she has told me several times she doesn't mind, but I can see how exhausted she is and it bothers me. ALL the household burdens are on her now, she works, has to get the kids ready for school, has to take care of whatever I need, take care of the meals, laundry, shopping, pretty much everything. I can see it in her eyes and hear it in her voice just how tired she is, but she's a trooper and just keeps on going. I am really going to have to make it up to her.

Hoping for the best, Joe! We need to send you a "distraction" but not sure the family would appreciate it near as much as you would...

:hehe::hehe:

Yeah NCNitro, I hope that you remain in good spirits !:D Try to take it easy as much as possible, even though it it is very hard on you and your family,......you need all the rest you can get right now, I'm sure they understand !;) Take care and get well soon !

It sucks for sure. I hated watching my wife run around the house chasing after our son, along with the rest of the chores and house duties. I know your wife knows you would help if you could.. hell I know you know you would help if you could but that is why we are both lucky men.. we both have a great partiner in life who would walk to ends of the earth for us, as we would do the same for them. In time you will be able to do more and more and one day it will be just like normal and you will both have a great laugh at how you looked everytime you had to get up to go to the bathroom! And there will undoubtedly come a time where she will need your help as you now need hers.

Until then... you better start sucking up now you lazy bum!! Valentines Day is almost here.... 1-800-Flowers... your fingers aren't broke! :D

Hang in there buddy...

It aint pretty I am sure.... 6'4'' guy in a moo moo..... Kinda like Rolex.... except Rolex just has a thing against pants. :D

Hi NC hope your recovery goes quickly, just wanted to shout out for the great white north. You are a great asset to the board, at least you can keep up with that! I noticed on the news about a week ago that it rained so much in Winnipeg (a city of about a million people here in Canada) that kids were skateing and playing hockey on the paved streets. My Bro lives there and we were going to meet in Orlando for a vacation, but his wife slipped and severly broke her wrist and injured her back, he said he was in the hospital all day waiting with her because of all the broken bones in emergency. Anyway hope all goes well for you and good luck with lyour recovery!

We really don't want to see Joe lounging on the couch in that new pink 'Snuggy' he got.
As for me, clear those images off your retinas. I do NOT have a thing against my pants because I'm not wearing them. :hehe:

Sorry to hear about your leg, but if you didn't want to paint my lid, all you had to do was say so. You didn't have to go through all this trouble. Lol. Get well soon, and let me know when your ready.

Savage, I will gladly paint your lid, give me a little time to see what kind of upstairs set up I can come up with.

Tom, it's not looking good. The skin has almost completely healed, but I still have relatively no control of the leg using the quad, even after more than three weeks. It's looking more and more like I am going to need both surgeries. I am still in a good deal of pain too whenever the vics start wearing off. Not to mention what this is all costing me, even with some insurance, hurts almost as much as the leg does:seeing_stars:. I see the surgeon again next friday, we'll see what he says then, but last time he was concerned that I could still not lift my leg on my own. :depress:

We're all pulling for you. I just hope the surgeon decides to do what's best as soon as possible. One of the biggest drawbacks of being laid up for so long is the loss of muscle mass. If you don't use them, they start to atrophy. That makes the recovery after surgery even harder.
Do whatever you can to exercise your arms and your other leg just to keep the rest of your strength up.

I second what Rolex said. I hope they do what they need to do asap as well. There is nothing worse then sitting around wondering what is going to happen. I had a few weeks after the break where surgery was going to be a possible option. You would wait and then go back to the doctor, have to wait some more and then go back. I really feel for ya my friend. You are in my prayers my friend. I hope you find out what they need to do soon. Keep your chin up!

Tom

Do 12 oz curls count? :burp:

Paired with the Vics... Hell yeah!
