WOW it was running GREAT!!!!!

I know this is not much of a post, but when you finally have it just the way you like it.....feels GOOOOOOOD. Know what I mean???? Steering feels better with the 645,tried the Bluebird servo as a throttle....that thing SUCKS.....so I put in a 590 JR,feels GOOOOOD........Have 45 in the front and rear shocks, may want to go a tad higher, gonna leave the diffs alone untill I see how it handles on the track this week.

Guess we will see how she runs at the track Sat., I will try to grab a few pics.

LOL.......well the truggy would run fine with out human error................

Heat one.....running OK,1st track time in 2 weeks.3 or so laps in JUST start to get a feel then my Rx packfalls out of the zip tie!(hump pack instead of the flat pack) That ends that round.

Heat 2........running better, 2nd or 3rd lap hit a truck that just flipped on its lid. Swerved to avoid and cought my wheel on him.Pulled a TB screw out,no steering. That ends rd 2

Heat 3.....Turn on radio....turn on truck.....chech for servo response....NONE!!!! Come to find out my pack false peaked!!! Put in my flat pack but that ends rd 3.......

All set for the main. 8 trucks. Everything works! 8 min. main w/a mandatory pit. From the start it is a hackfest. Dont think anyone is doing it intentionaly, but its a hackfest. Once we get the start all worked out I was running OK. Then the worst part of my day. A Savage somehow got on his lid in the middle of the straight. I come around the corner leading to the straight and floor it. Then LUCKY for him I see him or no more Savage! I slam the brakes and swerve. Hit the pipe and go airborne. Chetck a guy right in the midsection!!!! Lucky I was not going fast when I hit the pipe or it could have gotten ugly. He was ok but thought I was a runaway and set me in the infield!!( I would have too) Chris goes over and tells him to throw me back on the track and I was off again. Track was HIGH bite, they used suger b/c they can't put much else down right now during the week, something about useing too much calcium? Anywayonce I had the guy in the SUT get off of me a COUPLE of times. I was doing OK.Pitted around the 4 min mark. Then it happened. MR. SUT hits me when I bobbled. Hard enought I had no servo control and flamed out!Chris pulls me back to the pits and after we mess with it he hit me so hard it knocked my radio box switch OFF. Turn it on and the truck didnt want to start. Race almost over and I say screw it. Not worth it for 1 min of hell bent driving b/c that is what I would have done to try and catch up and not finish last. Oh well there is always next week.

The truggy is a Ofna based truggy a LX or something platform w/ a pbs up front. Regeared to 64t spur,30mm extenders on regular Maxx size Bowties. Sorry guys no pics, I will try and bring the camera this coming weekend, or i'll try and remind Chris before he leaves home to bring his.

I'm making an ofna violater into a truggy, i got proline 40series big joes, and the 2 speed tranny, i think the gears it comes with are:

Spur gears, 51 and 47,
clutchbell 11 and 15

stock gearing is 14/47 will that gearing be low eanough for my wheels?

u need a shorter gear for all that tire. doesn't matter if u have a 2spd or not (i'd ditch it really).

I just added MT adapters to my HB lightning... I think it has a 46T spur and 14T CB. Way to tall still for my taste. I'm running a light set of Imex tires on t-maxx rims on it. I can't go any smaller on the cb as I've already ground down the diff mount so the cb housing doesn't rub on it. The lightning SUT uses a 50T spur. Maybe with that and an 11T bell it will be better. But I'm not sure where to get a 11t bell.

The smallest CB I've seen is a 12tooth. If you can find them the ring and pinions from the LSP would change your grear ratio. I think even a 12 would be good for you, still may be a tad tall, but it will help.

12/50 will help some....here's an idea of how gearing can make a difference...I have a truggy that is LIGHT...titanium chassis.....it weighs about as much as a revo set up for serious racing.......and it's using a .27......well originally I had a 14t/55t set up.....fried clutches in less than 1 tank......then dropped CB to 13t kept spur gear same.....got about 4 tanks before the shoes were noticeably worn....dropped to a 12t CB kept spur the same.....got a little more than before, about 6-8 tanks...I ran like this for a while.....I swapped the spur gear and modded the chassis to take a 62t spur and still ran a 12t CB...I get about a gallon from a set of shoes now.......now my truggy is ridiculously light and I know the violator is no feather...I have a 9.5 pro so I know about what the violator weighs....kept as a buggy I'd guess it's a good 2-3 lbs heavier than my truggy...now throw MT wheels (big Joes even) and you are lookin at at least 5 lbs more than mine..that means you'll need to lower your gearing still unless you want headaches.......
and Olds you can get 11t CBs but they use smaller bearings and they fail faster

What 62T spur did you use?

OFNA steel...PSUNitro said he's using the 65t plastic version w/ no issues....I did have to make a mount for that to work on a GS diff cup though...I posted pics last night in another thread of it....

Racing this Sat Ryan. not a big fan of plastic, but it works. I had to bore the ID to make a slip fit on my diff, the holes are a LITTLE off, but since it's plastic it threaded on. 13/65 is my set-up, and with a Force .26 this thing moves. No problem getting off the line, clearing jumps, and not muce at our track pulls me on the straight.

PM cleared...and yeah that's the critter...I have one I'm thinking of trying...I bought it to see if I could use the holes to make a mounting plate for the metal one to go on...didn't go well
