I was just asking because I am just over the water near Glasgow itching to get my new rig out and get it going but everyone on here is saying wait till the temps get up to 50f to 60f before running it
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it depends on the engine and on yourself.
If you can get the engine running and get the cylinder temp up to 100*C easily without flooring the throttle or leaning it out for the first 3 or 4 tanks, then it will break the engine in okay.
If however you can't get the temps up, then it won't be ideal.
Depends on if you want to risk it or not. Mine seemed fine, but it was very tight which made reaching 100*C easy.
EDIT: You need to get the head above 94*C (200F) but NEVER above 115*C (240F) for break in. Aiming for 100-105*C is what I do, if it goes higher, I shut the engine down. If I could not have kept 95*/100*C without leaning, it probably would have been a good idea to pack it up and wait for a warmer day. The head temps will start to fall as the engine loosens up, the Picco manual suggests you can lean it by 1/8th turns per tank after the first tank, if needed.
