Why do yo hate them so much? What engine are they using on their 1/10 om road? Planning to buy one from ebay, any suggestions?

Most people dislike them for being cheap knock-offs with very little part support. But I am huge on not knocking something until you've tried it. I don't know if they suck, but for the most part that seems to be the common opinion.

Yeah,I personally dont know of the quality, but when have you seen parts in a hobby shop for them?Maybe your LHS could get an account from them to order parts? No matter how well its put together, you WILL break SOMETHING.....can you get a replacement? Are you just looking at it b/c of price? If so look at tower's line of stuff,at least you can get replacement bits for them......even look at Duratrax, not the best but not bad prices either. I dont want to bash them,b/c it looks to be a good deal, but parts...................or you can do like a friend of mine said about Yugo's when they 1st came out...."for that cheap just buy 2 and keep one for parts"

The smartech is a no no there is no parts available @ your LHS it cheaply made & the engine will not hold it's tuning don't forget you get what you paid for

Actually there's an online store with their parts.

rcmart . com

WTF??? How come when I want to post the link, the words rcmart get substitutted by ******???

I just bought a smartech 1/10 touring car and it works great. It also uses 90 percent capatibility in parts with HPI traxxas and AE.I just put a new traxxas 2.5 engine in it . And a new CEN 2 speed tranny. I love it its not even just one car it is all the companies car so i would buy it and have fun. It is very upgradaeble. But it is not the greatest. Dont look at it for price.Look at what your are gonna use it for.If you ar ejust a basher then it will be great but if you race I would get a CEN or HPI or a kit if you are tight on money.Good luck .

i have a smartech

smartech cars arent bad. the engines suck. i replaced the engine with a megatech neo .16 and it flys.hope i helped

A freind bought a smartech 1/10 on road and was real happy with it because it was a good deal for the money. Until he drove with me and my NTC3. The ntc3 outperformed it in every way, then after maybe 15 tanks his engine was dead. They did replace his engine for free though, so there is good support. But the engines are really slow, the exhaust joint leaks, they dont last, etc etc. He finally came to realize that what seems like a good deal "for the money" isnt worth anything if you can't stand to drive it. I sold an Ntc3 RTR on ebay for $150 that was like new and worked great. With a little savvy shopping you can get a much better deal for about the same money.

You are on a site that is made up of RC enthusiasts. Most of the members here are above average users and demand a bit more from their RCs than the person who drives one every now and then.

Lets compare RCs to tools. You can go to Wally World and get an entire tool set for $29.99. If you use the tools once in a blue moon to hang a picture or tighten a loose screw on your car, the set will be just fine. If you use your tools daily the set will be disappointing to you. They will wear out in no time at all and may even cause damage to the the project your working on.

Once you decide to upgrade the tool set one tool at a time you will have not only have spent a lot more than money then if you had just purchased an entire set of good tools but you are also out the price of the original cheep set you purchased.

The frustrating part is somewhere in the middle. Broke a cheep tool, replaced it with a cheep tool. Spent the time to find a cheep tool replacement tool. How many time will you do this before you decide to upgrade?

If you use the Snartech to get into the RC hobby that is a good thing. Just keep in mind if you take a liking to the hobby and think you will be in it for the long run keeping it and maintaining it may not be the wise choice.

They are not bad but you just got caught with the engine & you had to spend a little more money if you take the two cost you could of bought an hpi or a tc3 for the same price & get better quality. but enjoy it as much as you can & it's a learning experience for everyone.
