I recently bought my first RC car, a HPI / Maverick Quantum RX Flux, along with a 4S battery to go with it.

In all honesty, the car is difficult to control due to the amount of power.

Is there a way to slow it down, aside from pulling the throttle trigger less (which I am currently having to do) and/or buying a 2S/3S battery?

Ideally, when I pull the throttle trigger all the way in, I would like to get half the current power than when I currently do the same thing.

If it helps, here is a link to the remote control that comes with the car:

Yep, you sure can. Turn the "Hi" knob down to 50%
