That's a pretty open ended question. The short answer is generally no, the revisioned the kit and the parts changed. However, companies don't like to change things and do carry over the parts that work. The problem is no one has a comprehensive list of the exact changes, except for HPI.
I looked for the gearbox housing on the HPI website. They actually show some info.
I expanded this out by using the "Show Discontinued Kits" options at the bottom of the short list.
Searching on Amain for HPI 85235. It went to this page, but they only show the current models.
