Lets talk tires:
I'm wanting to get new tires for this up coming season. I've searched and read through so many posts. But something i never find is driving styles with each set up.
I bought this sledge used and it already had the talons ext's on it. They do okay, seem to have good air control, decent grip, etc. I've torn the side wall on one pretty good so its time to upgrade.
Set up: castle 1650kv motor, x8s esc running 6s.
Driving style: most of my driving is split about 50/50 between ripping up and down the road, dirt ball parks, big air jumps and grass.. i float alot from the grass to the pavement back to the dirt, etc.
What's a good tire for my style?
I want good air control, I like to jump. Good traction off road, but not too aggressive that it wears down alot on the street. I dont play in the mud, snow or rain so not worried about those conditions.
Thanks

Arrma 6s Backflip paired with 10mm offset hexes (that's stock Traxxas +4mm). For the hexes I recommend M2C Racing. I've run pretty much everything on my Sledge and the 6s Backflips are the best all around tires. You can skip the 4s Backflips, they tear up almost immediately. Proline are nice looking but will make your truck handle like a dog. My second choice would be 6s Coperheads.

6s Backflips look good on a Sledge too, the Coperheads aren't too bad either.

We have definately had different experiences then. Mine have been going for over a year now and still in great shape. Seen a lot of skate park action and big air with no issues.

The original non belted tires (what you have in your picture) came apart pretty quick though.

I hold to my original statement that a Sledge is at its best with 6s Backflips. For the truck to steer properly 6mm offset hexes are required. I run mine with 10mm offset hexes, I think it handles better.

I have a question for you. My Sledge is in pieces in a bucket waiting to be rebuilt.
What are you running for a diff setup in your truck?
So, I'm actually using stock diffs in treal diff housings which are inside treal bulkheads. 60k weight front and rear, 1 million weight in center.
If I blow the stock diffs, I'll either run the traxxas hardened or something similar

Thank you.
I'm making some big changes on my truck so I'm interested in what other people are doing with theirs.

Great video about those Choppers. And Magmas. Comments are good to read through. Magmas are heavy.
I ended up ordering the choppers with 6.5mm wheel extensions. Very excited to try them out. I see good things about them. Although they are a bit heavy so time will tell with them.
Thank you.

I've made a TON of changes to mine. Very excited for it

The vids, they did awesome. The tread looks like a do-all. Once they break-in, probably even better!

Let's see some pics of it
There you go, the Sludge! I'm going back to a stock size motor and body. I'm also going to drill out the chassis to accept an Arrma battery box. The Vitavon gear boxes, gears, and diff cases are going too. The truck drives like a skateboard with a cinder block on its nose. As it sits it's amazing shelf art, but when it was stockish and over geared it drove its best.

Why get rid of the diff cases? Any issues with them over stock? Flip that motor around and the weight should be a little more even.
I can't wait for good weather to get mine out for its real first run since the do-over. Changed so many things, it'll be a whole other animal
