I'm so confused, I've burned through 2 spur gears in 3 runs, how do you adjust the gear mesh on these things??? Please help

I've often heard people putting thin paper between the gears but when i did that the distance between the gears was always too big...
The way I always did it is just "gambling" by repeatedly moving the gears slightly to eachother untill it's too much and then I back out a little

No like, these screws on the motor and trans are set. It's like I can't adjust anything. I'm new to the nitro side so If I'm missing something please show me.I've often heard people putting thin paper between the gears but when i did that the distance between the gears was always too big...
