any one run the Exceed-RC Rally Monster? from the outside it looks similar to the slash. Although this one is 4x4 and costs $120 USD

$120 brand new? id pass personally. what scale is it?

Looks like they converted one of their e-buggies to a short course truck. The stock electronics look so cheap, they probably wouldn't last long and end up costing you more than a Slash/SC10 in the long run.

Either way, it's another short course truck that even cheaper. Hopefully more tracks will adopt a universal short course class. I love the slash, but I would like to race against other trucks.

Really? the most popular? i find that hard to believe, I've never even heard of it and it doesn't have its own section here......

Eh, looks cheap. I personally wouldn't buy it, also considering the fact I've never heard of the brand.

You know the one problem I noticed about the off brands like Exceed is there aren't any LHSs any where supporting them. I will say there is a HobbyTown usa about 26miles from where I live are supporting RedCat. At first they were going to stop selling them but helpless noobys started buying them not knowing what they were getting into.

Nah, the one problem is they steal stuff from other companies, make it to less than superior materials and promote it as their new great product.

Cool looking truck....4x4 is a plus, but i would rather have a brand name behind it for parts reasons

Yeah brand name over the price any day. I like how in some of the pics there is just bound up wires.

That's the biggest thing you have to look at...well one of the biggest anyways if you race and bash much, parts support. I highly doubt exceed, redcat, or any of the other companies like that have as good of parts support as say Traxxas, Losi, or Associated.

That is definitely one of the biggest factors to take into consideration when buying any truck or car. Can you get parts when, not if, you break it. You may save a couple bucks up front but in the long run it may not be worth the aggravation.

Yeah, to me it's a lot less of a hassle to run to the lhs and pick up whatever parts I need instead of having to order them and wait for the boat to get here. Case in point...I have a Himoto Rapida Pro Nitro TC (it was given to me, gimme a break) that threw a driveshaft into the wild yonder after smackin into a curb. The lhs doesn't really bother carrying himoto stuff since noone else around here really runs them, so I had to email them directly and order the part from China or Japan. It took two weeks. I can run to the lhs and pick up the parts to build at least half of a Slash from the ground up, and it only take and hour to get up there and back.
