As many of you know, i lost everything in a fire recently, so, i am slowly trying to start over, on a very, very limited budget. I picked up a Slash 4WD roller the other day, so, i need ESC, motor, radio/receiver, and a charger. For the charger, I'm just going to go with the Imax B6 i had before: https://www.ebay.com/itm/394151757106, and for the RX/TX, I'm thinking a Spektrum SLT3 from Jenny's: https://jennysrc.com/products/arrma...4ghz-granite-ara4312v3?variant=32792861835318, but, where i am running into an issue is which budget ESC/motor combo to go with. My choices are either this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255134718000 or this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/194969883859?hash=item2d651c54d3:g:vuoAAOSwQzRiViIh&LH_BIN=1 My thinking is, just go with a budget ESC/motor combo, and, when, not if, the ESC dies, just get another HW, or possibly a Spektrum. I have always had good luck with the GoolRC and Surpass motors, so that part isnt a concern, its the ESC. I have only ever used a couple of those GoolRC ESC's, and they both failed in a few weeks, but, i have never used the blue 120A ESC. Also, I'm looking for opinions on the SLT3.

I'm glad you have started to replace everything. Good to see you back.

I got a TRX stock ESC/motor combo that I’ll let go of at a decent price.

I recommend not getting one of those off brand ones, always seem like the always are a let down.

I usually use the 10BL60, and pair it with a 3900 or 4300KV motor, but, with such a tight budget, I'm thinking just get one of the two combos, and swap the ESC to a HW later. This is just to get it running as cheaply as possible.
If it was me I would just hold it out and save up for a decent esc.

I'd get a decent ESC, possibly used. Motors are simple and a Surpass or GoolRC will do the job. But at least get a HW or Traxxas ESC. Buy once, cry once.

If a person does decide on one of the no-name/knockoff/Hobbywing wannabe "blue 120A" ESCs, sold around the interwebs, I'd make sure to get the ones with the setup button on the switch (shown circled in red).

The ones without the setup button are complete garbage with no way to do throttle calibration. The auto calibration is just awful.
