UPDATE...
Next will be the rear, but I'm waiting on parts. I'm pretty sure the trans will end up in the rear seat but somehow I'll make it all work. :)

can you fab up an ammo box to cover the tranny and have it look like its just sitting in the back? or is that too easy? lol
great build so far.
really jealous of your abilities

Since it's an MP truck I'll be tinting the rear windows and adding a wire screen inside them and behind the drivers compartment. Escape proof as well as good cover for the trans.
Yesterday I got an Email that my Humm-Vee wheels just shipped!!! They are not kept in stock, but custom made per order, so the wait was almost unbearable. :\
An hour ago I got a call from Hobbytown that my other parts are in!!!
I'll be adding the newest pics of the drive train later today.

Nice job Ralph. Looks good.

I had to go with the rocker shocks in the rear since the rear A-arms didn't give me enough clearance for the standard shock springs.
I've also been looking into the Tekno conversion kit for brushless. It's a drop in for the Revo or Slayer. The motor I was building this for is 60,000 RPMs, but I think I'll save it for a boat.
Castle Creations/Mamba seems to be what I'll be using.
Another 139 for that setup and 99 for the conversion. Almost done shelling out the cash. :hehe:

The wheels in the photos are some of my early test rims, but I might keep the tires when my Humm-Vee rims arrive since they have an aggressive side wall pattern. They're the IMEX Rubicons.

you gotta make it a torque monster. I say something along the lines of a 2500ish KV motor on 5S. Get a couple 5S packs to run in parallel and you would be golden.

I firmly believe you need to be able to toss gravel, sticks, mud or whatever the heck you want from those tires.

3S isn't sufficient in my book for serious torque and wheelspeed. not on anything with weight on it anyway. I ran 4S on the savage and it was just right. This was a heavily modded e-savage that was particularly light IMO.

I have a pair of 5000 NiMH batts that were intended for the other motor, so I'm still considering using them rather than have them laying around.
It's time to start the brazing for the frame rails, so I'll still have time to make the final decision on running gear.
It will have the 2 speed revo trans, so I'll have to look into which motor would give me the best of both. I'm NOT looking for really fast since this is a big hard shell rig and I don't plan to roll it over.

Progress report

Here's the beginning of the chassis with the main parts measured and mounted.
It's no limo, but it's a stretch.

Scale Humm-Vee rims with Rok Lok tires. :first_place:
They REALLY need to get dirty in order to look real.

Kinda late for an old man to be posting. You musta had a viagra.

No, just some M&Ms. Maybe it was the blue one that's keeping me 'up'.
I've also ordered the 345 in. oz. servo from the Baja SS to handle the steering.

Gotta watch those blue ones. That servo is massive! Its like a brownie sitting in your truck

Looking good Ralph! I'm sure 345 oz should be enough too.

Lookin good man, i can't wait to see what it looks like all dirty and muddy. . .:hehe:

Come on, muddy? This is Rolex we're talking about.
