not that is matters for you but do not let any moisture at all near that esc. Even on days that are very humid you might want to keep it indoors. :)

Mine died after driving through freshly cut grass. No rain, the grass was damp from the dew. They said the failure was from water damage and it was stupid expensive to have replaced.

Other than that it was a good system.

Wet? MY TRUCK? Man, what's WRONG with you? :whhooo:

I've been working on the programming since I'm still waiting on the pinion and motor mount. I've already changed it out to Deans.
It seems pretty impressive so far.

maybe a stray spritz from the armorall bottle.

and BOOOO for deans. its all about the traxxas hc man.

MARCH Update

Chassis completed and painted...

hvf2.webp

All reassembled and ready for its first remote test. :jittery:
hvf4.webp

Still needing the shift servo and brake servo, but I actually drove it today. Batteries are just rubber banded in place for the test, but will mount under the body belly pan when it's finished.

Talk about SCALE!!! This thing weighs 1/6 as much as an actual Humm-Vee, and that's without the body. :hehe:

I'm stunned by this brushless system!
All the tests went A-OK! :celebrate:
Once I got through the kitchen, I blipped about 1/4 throttle on the carpet and.....

....THE FRONT END STOOD UP!!!

I have a 13/67 gear combo in there, and this thing is still an animal. I'll have to set the traction control on the radio since this thing really wants to run.

man that thing is beast!!! i have read this build from page 1 to the end i couldnt count how many times.... the shear amount of fabrication and imagination it has required to build that leviathan is nothing short of amazing, i hope that the 1/6th scale build i am wanting to attempt comes out half that nice. the only thing that i really want to know more about than you have posted progress of is your chassis that you have built. the truck i am using is an H2 as opposed to the original humvee, but the size of the body should be very similar. could you post some more about the frame, how you came up with the design and what you used to make it. i would greatly appreciate it.... just based off of your build i think that i am getting myself in way too deep way too soon!:hehe:

Chassis looks great Rolex. Very nice.

Look at those tires! Go ahead, LOOK at them! That's actual dust on there!
I've forgotten to take my meds again.

Klown, you have the advantage of starting out with a good looking truck right out of the box, complete with the interior. This one looked ridiculous, with NO interior and blinking LED's in the wheel spinners. :hehe:
I just noticed today that this thread started almost a year ago, in March, 2009. I took some time off along the way for a couple of helis, but this was definitely the most involved R/C build project in over 20 years.
Once I had the wheelbase measurements and widths I measured RC cars and trucks at the hobby shop to see what I could use. I decided that no crawler would work because I had to have independent 4 wheel suspension as well as 4WD. That was based on all the pics I looked at of the real HVs.
It's been through a lot of changes, chassis wise, but it all came together nicely with Revo parts and slayer A-arms.

For the frame I started out with plastic beam stock and rough cut and glued the tubes or square beams together for a mock up. Whenever I had something that would work, I'd duplicate it with brass stock and silver bearing solder for maximum strength. The two main rails have another inside rail for extra support as well as the round tube on the outside on top. The fact that this thing could wheelie all that weight without folding in the center says it's good to go once it's mounted in the body. At that point, there won't be any more load on the center since it gets rigidly mounted on each suspension half, and the center is only for alignment.
A few changes as it went, some desoldering and resoldering, and eventually it all came together.
The body has also been going through some detail changes to keep me busy while I waited for new parts to arrive.
I'll get some pics of that a little later.

i am still in the design stages right now... i was wanting to do something way different than what i have seen so far... the h2 body is not something that screams off road to me, its so top heavy and bulky it just doesn't fit, in my mind anyway...lol... so i was thinking of trying maybe a parking lot cruiser... a good suspension and some speed, if i can figure out a way to do it maybe an adjustable suspension to do some draggin with low rider style... i dont know yet, just ideas... but for sure i am going to have to look into the soldering and learn how to do that... shouldnt be too hard, i am a certified welder by trade so it should be quite a bit similar i would assume...

Klown, if you're a welder, you've got it beat. Some of the other guys doing custom scalers use a brazing torch. I'm pretty sure that a small TIG welder would also work for putting a good chassis together.

LIAR!! You've got a can of scale looking dust somewhere in the house. :p:

Truck looks amazing Rolex, nice job man.

It looks bad ass Rolex, I can't wait to see it tearing up the shelf!!!

LMFAO! Where did I put that stick?

If you're a welder, Klown, you've got it made. All my soldering is done with a torch.
Since yours is the H2, you won't need the independent suspension or scale wheels, so you'll get off a lot cheaper. Any good looking plastic chromed wheels and street tires should do it, but you'll still have to set up a rear and a front end with good shocks.
You could also get by with a good brushed motor. Being used to nitro, I wasn't prepared for the extreme torque this one put out at bottom end, so I've gone 'overkill'. Apparently that's normal for me. :D

LMAO!
SILENCE!....I keel you.

(Achmed, the dead terrorist)

I spell that for you:

the novak system is nice. Its not durable for a basher IMO but when i ran the HV 6.5 on my e-savage, it had plenty of torque and overall power.

Truck looks great. Make sure you get a lipo charger with a lipo storage mode. :)

I've been looking into LiPos for it, buy I think I've revived my NiMH 5000s by discharging and recharging. I can always run the NiMHs outside and save the LiPos for the shelf display. :hehe:

Just thought I'd save someone else the effort of busting my chops. :p:
